please some advice would be great ... I'm currently studying for the ACT alot I took these classes through bettertestsores over the summer you can check them out at bettertestscores.net and then I also was using the Kaplan premier ACT 2008 book I'm using their CD now also and I bought the petersons online ACT prep and I've got the AMSCO guide to math and science to still use so I'm prepping for the ACT vigoriously

Those are both reaches with your current ACT score. If you get it up to 23-24, I'd say you have a decent shot, but I'm not too sure. I'd look at some lesser-known state schools or go the CC route.

UIC and NIU are still a little bit of a stretch (though NIU is slightly closer), but what about WIU or SIU? You fall into a good range for them, especially if you can bring up that ACT a few points. Or if you're looking more at schools nearer Chicago, you could check out places like Columbia College or Judson College. Good luck!

ya I'm really hoping to get my scores up so I can have a little more breathing room but do my ECs help me any ? Along with my some what junior year push of mostly Bs ?

^^ some more advice would be nice so far I've got amazing recs from 2 teachers ive had for 2+ years plus one from my art teacher in art appreciation who I had for a semester and then my english teacher should write me a very strong rec

are u sure u want to do something like accounting and marketing. ur math grades show ur a person whos not into math so how would accounting and marketing be good for u if u hate math?

wait... you want to major in business/accounting? That's going to be very difficult for you to do considering these schools will see Ds in Algebra courses.

I really doubt you can make it in accounting based on your track record so far and I think that you probably know this yourself.

I would go visit your local technology center and see if there are some programs there that get your attention. You could learn a good trade in two years and get a good start. If you would rather be indoors and like helping people consider nursing.

thank you for the extreme negativity jben I find it hilarious that you believe I can't make it in accounting while I'm taking some accounting classes at local university and ive got As in them

As I remember, EIU was less selective than NIU, but I may be wrong.

However, if you're open to private schools, have a look at McKendree University in Lebanon, IL. It's a real nice small town, and a nice little campus, looks like a miniature version of the quad at UIUC. Their mid 50 ACTs are in the 18-20 range

I'm an Illinois kid trying to get into college too, and thats just what I've seen during my searc
