I'll try to keep all of my 'stats' as brief as possible.

Male
Arkansas
Public High School
GPA: 3.15 (3.25 weighted)
Top 18-22% of class
SAT: 2030 (taken twice)

I've only taken 3 AP's (my school offers a bunch), and I've taken honors math classes every year. I made a 4 on the Stat exam, a 2 on the Physics, and, lol, a 1 on the Computer Science.

Grade Trend: 3.40 - 2.80 - 3.60 - 3.40

So if you take out my sophomore year, like (a lot) of colleges take out the first year, my GPA wouldn't be so bad.

EC's: Member of 3 clubs, played high school baseball

Case Western Reserve
Depauw University
Furman University
Hendrix College
Illinois Wesleyan University
Lafayette College <--- I applied ED
Rhodes College
Sewanee (University of the South)
St. Olaf
Wake Forest

My top choice in order are Lafayette, Wake Forest, Rhodes College and St. Olaf. If you aren't familiar with any of the schools I listed, it's OK to leave it blank. And I WILL CHANCE BACK if you ask.

Thanks. And this will be my last chance thread (assuming, that is, I get a few responses).

Wow, you really think I have better than a 50% chance at Furman and Rhodes? That is very comforting to hear.

Since you think I'll more likely than not get rejected by Lafayette and Wake Forest, and I agree, do you think I still have a 'decent' chance at both (over 20%)?

...Just to throw this out there, I currently have an 'F' on my high school transcript for Honors Trig. I haven't asked my teacher to change it to a 'C' yet (it's a complicated story both why I got an 'F' and why he will likely change it to a 'C').....so how much worse are much chances with an 'F'? It'll probably end up being a 'C', but having an 'F' on my transcript is a possibility.

Will the 'F' just flat out kill my chances at most of my schools?

Sorry those are the only ones I know anything about. And if you get that F...well, let's just say you better get that pulled up to a C :)

By the way, my GPA without the 'F' is about a 3.30 and my GPA with the 'F' is a 3.20.

So, even though a lot of you guys said 'in' at several of my schools without knowing I had an 'F', would my chances really be considerably lower with an 'F' despite the fact my GPA was hardly affected? And even if I send a letter/email explaining why I got the 'F' (I have a good explanation, which is also why my teacher will probably change it anyways)?

I don't think you have very good chances at Furman at all!

What do you define as 'very good' though, lol?

Here are the stats for Furman:

ACT Range: 25-30
Average HS GPA: 3.54
54% acceptance rate

So 25% of the their student body has an ACT lower than 25! I'm in the top 75% for test scores and probably in the bottom 25% for GPA. That should put me roughly in the middle 50% in terms of test scores/GPA, right? Plus, because my GPA is so bad, Furman will probably assume Furman is either my number 1 or number 2 choice.

I don't know though, I'm not very confident I'll get in.

so you're like 108-132/600 which means your GPA is okay, but not too great
2030 is solid for all of your schools, though your exact M CR W scores would help me

Case Western Reserve and Wake Forest are the only school I'd really be afraid of for you (however I dunno all the schools on your list), and even there you have decent shots. GL~!

Yeah, you would have an average chance at Furman if you don't get a F, but with a F it's going to be really hard! Also I'm not sure about the precise numbers, but I know that Furman favors in-state applicants ( I live in SC) so you have to consider that, also even without the F I'd say your chances are around 30-40%. Of course your essays and recommendations count a lot too!

OK, you know Rhodes and Sewanee get a lot of kids from Arkansas...so with the F that's tough situation...are you hoping to play baseball at college? If so reach out to those coaches.

Your scores are fine - how much is financial aid going to matter? Were you rejected ED to lafayette?
