Please Chance me at UCB, Stanford, and others!!

Okay: So I keep seeing these college chance threads and I figured that I might do one:

Stats:
-SAT: 2260, 1540 M+CR
-ACT: 34 composite + 10 essay
-SAT II: 800 chem and 780 math
-GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.3 W
-PSAT: NMSF
-Class Rank, top 1%

Course load:
I've taken the most rigorous courses at my school, including 10 AP classes. I've taken 6 AP tests (chem, calculus AB, government, Micro+Macro Econ, and AP world history) and I've gotten all 5s.
AP scholar with distinction

Current course load:
Calc BC
Orchestra
Spanish 5 (no AP)
AP Literature
AP music theory (online)
AP Euro
AP Physics B

EC, here is just a quick outline of what I do:
Music: I've played my instrument for 13+ years and I've won multiple awards. I've also held multiple leadership positions on my instrument and I've attended multiple years at a summer music camp.
Debate: I have won state titles (2nd place) as a member of the debate team.
100+ hours of community service at a local museum.
Member of NHS
Member of Chemistry club
Member of a school community service club

Work:
I've done music gigs around the city as part of an established trio.
I have a payed position as a student member on a board of directors.

Major: I'm thinking physics or chemistry

My letters of rec should be good, and I think that my essays are going really well.

Schools that I am applying to:
UCB
UCLA
Northwestern
Cornell
Harvard (why not?)
Yale (same story)
Stanford (again, the same Idea
U of M
JH

I'm applying regular decision everywhere and I feel pretty good about my chances for U of M and UCLA. The others I'm not so sure about though and I'd like to know your input. Thanks in advance!

You have done an excellent job. Now its all left to the admission officials. But, I can say “you are a strong applicant”(if your essays and recs are really good).

Thanks! Any other opinions?

Shamelessly bumping…

No one seems to be answering my thread :frowning: I’d really like to know if I’m right in thinking that I have a pretty good shot at UCLA and U of M. Should I add some safeties?

Yup, you’re in the same boat as me (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1410322-chance-ucs-usc-jhu.html</a>). Slightly higher SAT than me (2220) but overall almost the same app. One thing that strikes me is the lack of EC’s in your major (phys. or chem.) other than Chemistry Club. S+D is prestigious, good job on that. Overall :
UCB/UCLA (the high-end UC’s) - match
JHU - match (like me yay :D)
North - match
Cornell - high match/low reach

Can’t comment on HY or Stanford because of the random variability of the admissions. Anything can happen. I’d say they would all be mid to high reaches.

I’d also suggest putting UIUC (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) because they have a strong chem. program. You’d have an excellent chance there and you would benefit from the chem. program. Good luck!

Chance me back! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1410322-chance-ucs-usc-jhu.html</a></p>

Thanks for your response  Yeah, I know that I don’t have as many ECs in my intended major as I should and that’s making me a little bit nervous…

buuummppp…

Your EC’s and scores are a little weak for the top schools, but the lower ones should be ok.

Thanks for the input, anyone else?

bump…

Good job man! You’re very solid and I’m sure you’ll get into at least 1 of the Ivies that you have listed. However ivies are going to be a reach for everyone its all a matter of applying. I wanna say that you’re pretty much in or as close as you can get to anywhere on your list that isn’t an ivy except Stanford of course which pretty much falls into that reach for everyone category.

Thanks. I guess it’s now just time to wait and see :)

Wow your current courses are quite rigorous. I’d say your in at all of those schools except Stanford, Harvard and Yale which are slight reaches.
