I feel like my ECs are pretty generic and I’m not sure if i can get in or not. PLEASE help me out.
Hey ap12199, I have posted my ECs. Please check them out and tell me what you think. Thanks
@kiwi2017 Simply based on being an OOS student, your odds are reduced significantly because they are required to have an entering class of 82% in-state. There is nothing you can do about that, just the way it is.
Your GPA / standardized test scores are in line with what they consider for students they accept.
I would agree your ECs/ Awards are somewhat generic. You will want to add context for some when you list them on common app. For example, chess - don’t assume the reader will no what a 1717 rating is and particularly associating the rating with a period in time. A 1717 for someone playing chess for 10 years isn’t going to be the same as someone playing for say 3 years.
No one can tell you whether you will get in or not. The essays are going to be a key component of your application so focus on writing strong essays. Good luck!
@paveyourpath I appreciate your info and it is true that I should be more specific. I am mainly interested in a pre-med track with research opportunities. What good schools in this aspect would I be competitive for?
@kiwi2017 I couldn’t tell you. Start of by going to college board and doing a college search. You can input your stats and apply filters for things that are important to you. Your search will result in a list of schools and you can look at the schools websites to see what schools may be appealing to you. Have your parents run the financial calculator to make sure that they are comfortable with the cost of the school. Have you and your college counselor met to discuss a list of colleges that might be good fits for you?
