English Major
GPA 3.22
Honors Program
Missing 1 Pre-Req for UCB
Inter-Club Council President (if that makes a difference)

hes got more than 3 % chance for ucla if hes in the honors TAP program.

Ok so I posted as a trick:

I actually applied last year and got into every school I applied (UCI, UCD, UCLA, Cal,). Honestly I think my GPA was a little lower than 3.22 (3.19 or something).

This shows you that Cal is unpredictable I had 2 friends not get in with GPA's over 3.8 (3.8 in ECS and 3.95 in Math)

Breathe and relax still another month before UCLA/CAL release. Everyone told me I wouldnt get in

Hockeelover thanks for that, I am freaking out, :P.

chances are really low for Berkeley but as for UCLA, they are pretty much low too. Just not as much as UCB.

^^^^Read post four

lol @ makebank. Read the fourth post down. :-P

Thanks for giving us some hope! So what do you think got you into CAl?

Hockeelover, great thread made me laugh lol.

If this isn't a troll thread, that is very, very reassuring. I mean, it doesn't confirm anything, but it makes me feel a little better.

So what'd you do? Revive Jonathan Swift and have him write your essay for you or what?

Something tells me you purposefully downplayed your application to solicit a negative response. If you actually got in with a 3.22 GPA and a missing pre-req, you must have had some sort of a special circumstance, whether it be amazing essays, unique economic/family situation, or a jaw dropping EC.

Berkeley/LA wouldn't accept a 3.22 GPA for no reason, clearly there was something in you application that made you qualified to gain admission to the university.

lol I can assure you that this not a troll thread...

Now that is out of the way...

I honestly believe my reasons for getting in were my personal statements. Berkeley is the one university that pays very much attention to personal statements. They don't care about 4.0 students (no offense), they really want people who have a story, a passion, or a something to give.

Everyone I knew told me I wouldn't get in. I had psyched myself out and was kind of numb when I applied. The point is...yay academics are a big part of the picture, but its not the whole picture. Being on the other side is very refreshing, but I can honestly say Berkeley cares about their students (well...that is until you get here..but that's another story)

if youre in the tap program and done all prereqs for ucla i would say 8/10

BTW I had a C in 2 of my English classes...I know I am horrible

Hoooooooooooooooooooly moley. This is BIG reassurance.

SO MANY English majors at Cal making threads this week!! Love it!!

Thank you for this thread Hockeelover. It really shows how holistic the whole admissions process is @ UCLA and Cal. Although I appreciate the positive chances I've been given by fellow applicants on this forum, the only information I rely on are the admissions statistics provided by the UCs and talking to Admissions Reps. from particular UCs.

hockeylover NO TRICK THREADS whatever that u got in you got 2 c's in english? u dont deserve to be in ucla or ucb.

chesserforlife,

Thank you for your humble opinion. I feel terrible that you think I don't deserve to be here. I really hope you get accepted. I think it would be wonderful for you. You will learn how to spell (its hockeelover - not hockeylover), you will learn grammar (don't - not dont), and lastly you will learn the correct way to use punctuation (a ? after a statement...hmm).

I'm rooting for you!

btw congrats on your 2 on the AP exam!

**** you hockeelover i would prefer you wouldn't root for me i dont need nobody rooting for me. I don't care where I end up, again i dont need to get rooted by you ass hole. In my opinion I think they shouldnt have accepted you, I got like way better stats than you, and hell people wityh my stats have gotten rejected before its so biased and unfair. you dont need me what they should teach me or not, its my life and Ill get in to whereever the hell they want me to get in

Hockee was just providing insight on the holistic admissions of top tier UCs. Having peers chance you for admissions ultimately does nothing for your real chances at the schools. You clearly don't understand the point he's trying to demonstrate. Stop with your childish comments like "I HAVE WAY BETTER STATS THAN YOU". Who the **** cares if your stats are better, in the end he's the one @ Cal.
