Hey, i’m a Fall 2016 CCC transfer. I’m applying to UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCLA, UCSB, UCSC
Major: Political Science
UC GPA: 3.4
Major GPA: 3.5
TAG: Davis
IGETC: Complete
Pre-Reqs: All will be completed by Spring (with the exception of 1 for SB)
ECs: Various volunteer Work
Personal Statements: Very strong
I know with my GPA and lack of extensive extra curricular activities that it’s definitely a long shot, especially in regards to Cal, UCLA, and even SB since I’m missing a pre-req (microecon) but I’m curious to hear what you guys think. Also, if I were to add Microeconomics to my schedule and report it to UC, do you think it would be too late or even worth it?
I’ve been checking these forums since I was in high school and the college confidential community has helped me immensely with questions and concerns, especially more recently as I’ve been navigating the transfer process lol. I’m definitely looking forward to giving back to this board once I have transferred in the Fall in helping with any questions from prospective students (:
If I am going to add microecon I’ll have to do it sooner rather than later in order to reserve a spot in the class and report it to the UCs asap, but do you think it would be worth it?? Or even be sent in soon enough for them to take it into consideration for admission? Sorry just freaking out a little bit lol. Really would appreciate a response
As far as UCLA goes, you’re below their 25th percentile for GPA, but that definitely doesn’t mean it’s impossible to get in. Which school are you most interested in attending? If it’s UCSB then go for that ME class so long as it doesn’t negatively affect your GPA. If it’s another school, just focus on keeping your grades up. It sounds like you have a pretty good shot at UCD.
@incogneato Thank you! My top choice is UCLA but i’m a realistic person so I totally understand that my acceptance is highly unlikely. UCSB seems to be my favorite after LA, so I think I will take that extra class. My tag with Davis was approved so at least I have that to fall back on. Thanks again for taking the time to reply!!
@CATransfer2016 You’re welcome! I wouldn’t say it’s out of the realm of possibility at all that you might get in, it’s just a little bit of a longer shot.
Also, it thrills me that our conversation looks like a conversation between Dwight Schrute and Robert California.
Sorry for the personal question, but what CC do you go to where you could get the Politics and Strategy prerequisite? I looked on every CC for that class and I couldn’t find it anywhere?
@Mont2LA I go to a school in the SF Bay Area and they don’t offer it either. Sorry for the confusion! I need to edit my post. I thought for the UCLA articulation they wanted you to complete 4/5, so I have IR, Intro to Comparative Politics, Intro to American Politics, & Intro to Political Theory. My statistics course doesn’t articulate either
