Please only chance me for the ones you know about

GPA- Weird way of doing it i have a 4.8, the only reference i have is i know a weighted 3.8 at another school would be a 4.5 here, oh and there is no unweighted GPA also the highest anyone has ever gotten is a 5.6 since the school started.

Pomona, Low Reach
USC, Match
UChico, Reach
CMC, Low Reach
Occidental, Likely
UC Berkley (OOS), Reach
UCLA(OOS), Reach
Colorado College, Almost a Safety
Carleton College, Low Reach
Bowdoin College, Low Reach
Reed, Low Reach
Wesleyan, Low Reach
NYU, Likely
UT (instate), Likely
Bard, Likely, assuming your personality is a match for it

The difficulty here is the class rank. Even at Colorado College, labeled “almost a safety” above, approximately 1 in 4 admitted students rank in the top 1% (one percent) of their HS classes. Their admit rate was 26% last year. I’d call that one a solid “likely”, not a safety.

Pomona is very nearly the most selective LAC in the country. It may be more selective still than Chicago, even though Chicago’s apps surged this year. I’d call it a Reach, not a Low Reach.

CelaPlusAimaple seems to be calling the others about right … although state schools sometimes have a hard GPA cut-off. UT’s class rank policies change this year, right? My understanding is that 75% of those admitted in 2011 are expected to be in the top 8%. I don’t know how new policies play out for someone like the OP with relatively high scores but not in the top 10%.

Consult Naviance if your school makes it available.

good chance at Carleton  just write a really good essay :]…same goes for UChig WRITE A REALLY GOOD ESSAY.

good luck :)

Pomona, medium reach
USC, high reach
UChico, Reach
Occidental, match
UC Berkley (OOS), depends if you are from california or not
UCLA(OOS), depends if you are from california or not - if you aren’t from ca its harder
Colorado College, match
Carleton College, reach
Bowdoin College, reach
Reed, reach
Wesleyan, reach
NYU, match
UT (instate), safety
Bard - low reach

the reason that i said reach for so many of these schools is because that with a lot of the really good schools, you could be perfectly qualified, but get rejected/waitlisted because of the high number of applciants

chance me back?

Here’s a link you might find helpful in assessing the relative selectivity of these schools.
This takes into account admit rates, scores, and GPA/rank.

Berkeley and LA are definitely not reaches, even if you’re out of state. I’d say they’re mid-high matches for you.
