Can anyone plz chance me? It will give me some idea. I really would appreciate.

@RUA Futile to chance any one. But here are some points.

  1. Though your academic and test scores are not competitive for BS/MD programs, you have some unique experience and focus (which I assume you are going to tap for your essays/prompts). So do apply.
  2. Apply to few BS/MD and also for some good schools where you would be happy to do your regular UG.
  3. If you have constraint on how many programs you plan to apply, then drop BU. Also note Drexel is not a true BS/MD guaranteed program any more.
  4. No harm in applying to Rice/Baylor (what is your home state?). Even if you don’t get R/B program, if you get Rice, it is a solid choice for regular program.
  5. If you have any finance constraint, apply to OU or Tulsa programs which give solid aid.

Yes, I personally feel the same way about my GPA and test scores though they might go up a little bit after the summer semester. I sure will start focusing on potential UG programs and Rice is definitely one of them. My home state is GA. Thank you for the honest opinion.

@RUA If you are an ORM (read Asian), your chances are very slim for ANY BS/MD based on your current GPA and SAT scores. It is very competitive even to get a single interview for most applicants. You can apply but just keep your expectations reasonably low.

@RUA, agree with @grtd2010. Besides, GWU you are most interested in has barely around 10 seats with > 1000 applicants every year.

Since you are from Georgia, Emory may be a great place for you to pursue undergrad in traditional route, if you happen to be lucky enough to get in there. But also heard it is very tough in there also, with lot of kids getting weeded out in first 2 years.

Are you open to applying BS/DO programs? There seem to be some decent programs in that space. Something you may want to think about.

@grtd2010 Yes, I am an ORM. I do realize that my chances are sleek with these programs. However, my summer sem ended and I was able to bring up my UW GPA to 3.8 from 3.73. I am also pretty positive I can bring up my standardized test scores considerably high. The only thing i will not be able to change is my AP scores and my final GPA before applying which would be 3.8. I just could not handle my work load as I had a very demanding internship which took away lot of time, but I really enjoyed doing it.

@grtd2010 , @rk2017 I am going to apply to the state school BS/MD which has preference for GA residents and is also not extremely competitive like GWU. Thank you all for your feedback!

At this point based on my current stats and all of your feedback, I have revised my list for both undergrad and BS/MD programs I would be applying. Thank you all once again!!

@RUA,

Quite an impressive upward swing of your gpa. Also pay good attention to the 1st marking period grades of senior year, some places do look into that and it may help you getting an interview or two. Unfortunately won’t be having much chance to improve on your AP scores and you may have to pick and choose which one is a priority between SAT and SAT subject tests. It may be too much of a reach to try improving both at this time. But again, not all schools/programs may look at all these and may primarily focus on GPA and SAT.

So I think the hurdle now is for you to get interviews at some of these schools where and when you can really showcase your strengths face to face. So focus on what you can do the best that is in your hands, the essays and getting good recommendations, especially from your internship mentor/professor. And yes applying to the state BS/MD makes a lot of sense. Good luck.

@RUA,

I would add VCU program (if it still exists), where SAT score of 1500 would be somewhat competitive if you have strong volunteer history. This program also allows its students to apply out without losing a seat in the program. I would also drop BU and Drexel. Good luck.

@rk2017 @upstream Thank you!!
