Essay is decent I believe, teacher recommendations should be good. Please be honest

w/o the ED, you seem like a decent candidate, around 40% acceptance. you lack major awards (don’t we all) but you have solid club leadership + comunity service. SAT is just fine, grades are good.

With ED, it looks kind of 50/50 or 60/40.

You look very strong. I would guess you have a 70%+ Chance. Nice work.

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/802968-boston-college-chances.html

Thanks guys
Ummm so there are like 6 other people from our school applying for ED too haha, so I am slightly scared…

BUMP! I will chance back!

Fantastic stats. Light years better than mine. I think you have around a 75% chance of getting in. I can’t think of a reason why they would reject you honestly.

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/801657-high-gpa-ok-sat-how-much-will-sat-hurt-me.html

i think you’re definately in. A girl from my school got in last year and her Stats were no where near as good as yours

Wow really? That makes me feel really good about myself haha. I don’t know about definitely getting in…5 other people are applying ED from our school…ahhhhh

BUMP 10 char

Colombia-I’d say high match/low reach
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/803256-chances.html

I definitely think you’re a match. You have great scores and your ECs show you were dedicated and focused. Good luck!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/803198-chance-me-ill-chance-back.html

Ahhh thanks! Bump!
Anyone feeling pessimistic?

You have a very good shot at ED admission, especially being a minority. However, if you choose RD, your chances may go down.

You meet their requirements, being a minority may get you some $$$$. I know someone who goes to Columbia with 20k at very similar stats to yours.

Thanks! Does being Asian actually help? I thought it actually reduces your chances

Nice stats
I’d say low reach, if not ED then definitely regular decision :)

It’s still a bit of a reach, but you might make it. What do the stats for the other people applying ED look like?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/803389-chance-me-wants-engineer-maybe-physicist.html

Hmm I am not sure. I don’t think I stand out as muchas I should…but I don’t know haha. Tbh I think I am pretty average among the Columbia applicant pool

Yes, being Asian does help. Universities need to maintain proper percentages of individual minority groups in order to maintain university status.

I’m afraid smc333 is wrong. Asians are considered ORM (over-represented-minority) in ivy league schools. so it’ll work against you.

RAlec you are on to something. I made the mistake of classifying all minorities as being a plus, but upon further research you may be right.

ORMs, as RAlec mentioned, sometimes require higher than school average performance for acceptance.
