Please chance me for Columbia Engineering ED and UIUC

Can someone please chance me for Columbia Engineering ED as well as University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign (I'm oos for UIUC, btw)?

Here are my stats:

GPA UW = 3.97
Rank: top 7-8% (only people with 4.0s get in the top 6% or higher , but I have one of the most rigorous schedules at my school )

SAT: 2270 (CR 730, M 770, W 770 Essay 10)
ACT: 34 (E 35, M 34, R 34, S 34, Essay 9)

SAT II Subject Tests:
- Math Level 2 - 800
- US History - 780
- Physics - will be taking this October; expecting 750+

ECs:
-Track and Field (only in 10th grade -- I suffered a serious injury and am not allowed to run anymore :( )
- Kiwani's Club (10th-12th)
- Model UN (10th-12th)
- Science Club (10th-12th)
- Computer Club (we are building and refurbishing computers to give to low-income families and make a computer lab free of charge in a local nursing home) (10th-12th)
- Debate (12th)
- DECA (12th - can only do DECA at my school if taking a business class)

AP Scores:
- APUSH: 4
- Chem: 4
- Calc AB : 5
- Physics Mechanics: 5
- Computer Science A : 4
- most likely 5's on Lit, E&M, BC Calc

50+ community service hours tutoring elementary school students in mathematics and English and working as a farmhand at historical homestead

My ECs and community service hours aren't so hot because I've been moving around a lot, which has made me somewhat more reserved than others. Do colleges take this into consideration? I spent 10th-12th grade at the same high school by the way, but it was somewhat hard to adjust since it was such a tight-knit community.

Here's my coursework if interested:

9th Grade
-Algebra II Honors
-ELA 9 Honors
-World History Honors
-Spanish 3 Honors
-Engineering 1 Honors
-Biology 1 Honors

10th Grade:
-Pre-Calculus Honors
-AP US History
-AP Chemistry
-Spanish 3 (i was forced to retake it because Spanish 4 at my school is an IB class and sophomores can't take IB classes)
-Civics & Economics
-ELA 10

11th Grade:
- AP English Language & Composition
- AP Calculus AB
- AP Physics C: Mechanics
- IB World History HL 1
- IB Spanish SL
- IB Computer Science HL 1

12th Grade classes:
-- AP Lit
-- AP Calculus BC
-- AP Physics: Electricity & Magnetism
-- IB Business HL
-- IB Computer Science HL 2
-- PE/Health (mandatory)

Thank you for your time!

ur in @ columbia

uiuc may be a high reach for u

Are you sure you didn’t mean the other way around? UIUC has a MUCH high accpetance rate than Columbia does. haha

Yeah I thought Columbia was pretty had to get into… But anyways thanks for your chance! I cant say much about whether you’ll get in or not, but colleges don’t really consider if you’ve moved around a lot. I also think your app show little “passion”, and doesn’t emphasize that you’re really passionate about engineering. You dont have much, if any, leadership, which might lower your chances too. But again, I don’t know for sure if you’re a shoe in or not, I think that you should just really improve those spots of your application

You see, that’s why I asked if colleges take frequent moving into account. Because I moved around so much, people didn’t get to know me very well and I consequently was that random guy running for an officer position, who obviously did not win. Oh and I forgot to mention that I’m developing an app to help college students maintain their finances better, which, along with my fairly focused coursework, indicates my passion for engineering/comp sci (not to mention that I do things such as Project Euler, Google Code Jam, etc.). I’m simply trying to find my “passion” through my activities. It’s not something we’re born with.

You are at or above 75% for UIUC Engineering, you should be a match for oos and low match for in state. Make sure you write a good essay and better pick a specific major. UIUC does not require SAT2 or recommendations. Columbia would be a low match. Take a svience subject test too,

Thanks, bill. I was planning on using UIUC as a safety and Columbia as my ED. And yeah, I’ll be taking SAT Physics this October. Would MIT and Cal Tech be reaches for me?

Columbia ED - low reach
UIUC - low match
Cal Tech/MIT - reach

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1546433-updated-umiami-chance-thread-will-chance-back-2.html#post16362467</a></p>

I just realize I made a major mistake. I meant to say Columbia to be a low reach, not low match. UIUC engineering has been ranked #5 in the country by USNews but has a higher acceptance rate than other schools around that range. Columbia’s engineering ranked #15 but the school overall ranked #4 making it more competitive than UIUC. I hope I did not make you too over excited.

Yeah, I was wondering why you’d considered Columbia a low match for me, given it’s an Ivy-League college lol. How would I fare for UC Berkeley? This is my last one, I promise!

Probably around a low reach.

UCB would be a high match to low reach.
