Please Chance Me for CSUs! Will definitely chance back!

CSU GPA (10 & 11): 3.14
SAT (Critical Reading + Math): 1280
EI (10 & 11): 3792
I have had a consistently upward trend in my GPA, and in my first semester 12th grade received a 3.75 GPA (if this matters at all)
I am applying to:
San Jose State
San Diego State
Chico State
Sonoma State
CSU Fullerton
CSU Long Beach
Cal Poly Pomona
Cal Poly SLO
Intended Major: Business (specializing in Human Resources Management)
Location: San Jose/ Santa Clara County

any advice/ tips/ insights would be greatly appreciated

SLO: High Reach
SDSU: Reach
CSUF/CSULB: Low Reach
CPP: High Match
SJSU/Chico State/Sonoma: Match

Your GPA is holding you back from the top CSU’s but you have some good choices in your match schools. Senior grades do not matter in admission decisions, but they will maintain your provisonal admission.

Good Luck.

@gumbymom do you know if CSUs look at grade trends or factor in difficulty level of classes/ if I took college classes at my local community college?

Yes, the CSU’s do look at grade trends based on your self reported grades. They also take into account course rigor due to the fact that AP/DE/IB and Honors courses are given extra honors points in the CSU GPA calculation. You can also look at the common dataset for each CSU and look at section C7. This is where the importance of HS course rigor is listed. Example SDSU common dataset: https://asir.sdsu.edu/Documents/CommonDataSets/CDS2015_2016.pdf

CSU admissions (except SLO) are based on your EI. Each applicant is ranked based on EI and major and then accepted from the top down until all spots are filled.

For CSULB/CSUF a competitive EI is around 3900+
For SDSU a competitive EI is around 4100+
For SLO, they use an MCA score calculation and for Business you want an MCA score of 4300+
