Duke is my top choice and I know that my chances at ED are better. However, I still would like to know my chances at RD. Thanks and Go Blue Devils!!!

You seem like a solid but not stellar applicant. EC’s are a little cookie cutter, and the SAT is not great by Duke’s lofty standards. Having said that, you do have some stuff going for you. Being a Hispanic applicant will give you a boost, as will applying from a renowned high school. Definitely go the ED route to bolster your chances. I think you’re a very borderline candidate for RD, although it is difficult to predict your chances without knowing the increase in the number of applicants for the class of 2017. I hope I haven’t been too harsh, I’m merely trying to give you a realistic appraisal of your chances. Highlight your passion for Duke in particular, and definitely apply ED if you have the finances to do so. Good Luck.

Your GPA is stellar and your SAT scores are fine. I don’t know what happyman2 is talking about with his assertion that it’s not great by ‘Duke’s lofty’ standards. I guess it’s his way of making Duke look better than it actually is. People get in with all sorts of scores and the only explanation of being rejected with your scores or even higher is that admissions is a total crapshoot.

Goodluck.

You definitely have the stats to be competitive, albeit your GPA is a tad low. However, your URM status helps a ton, and I think you have a pretty good shot of getting in (65-75%).

Thanks you all and happyman2 don’t worry i was more critical of myself.

U have great stats. I will be applying ED this fall but my stats are no where near as stellar as yours lol. I go to a high school in Florida too. What part of FL are you from?

I’d say you have a really good chance if you apply ED and an okay chance at RD (its so hard to predict RD but I’d imagine you’d be in the thick of things). If you really like Duke, I’d recommend ED.

Thanks and Canefreak2001 I’m from Miami. Where are you from?

Miami too lol. What high school do u go to? I go to Palmetto.

Lol I go to Belen

Haha thats awesome that you can only get the “plus” grade at your school rather than the “minus” grade. I wish my school did that. I think you have a great shot of getting in early, and I would be very surprised if you didn’t.

@colorado13 maybe he just never got any minuses.

@colorado13 you are the greatest person alive. and you are also correct. :)

@urstruly Oh okay. I know a couple people who go to Belen.

your chances look pretty good! especially with your urm status (i’m jealous hahah), you should have a great chance at getting in! your gpa isn’t going to help you (unfortunately), but I don’t think it’ll hurt you either…

overall, solid chance!
