i think i speak for everyone here when I say:

IN

are you really worried about getting into Duke? lol…come on now

bump…

Did you have a childhood?

I think we all know (including you) that you are in almost everywhere. Your decision will probably come down to Harvard and MIT (I’m assuming you aren’t interested in IIT or what to go to school in America) and I would bet you choose Harvard. Personally I think you should go to MIT, as you will be challenged and have lots of opportunities for research.

Congrats on your accomplishments, it is very impressive.

^^^ The OP is a great applicant…Unfortuanatlly being an international applicant requesting aid, may hinder the OP chances a little…Idk if Duke is need blind for Internationals…I think Stanford and Harvard may be…Correct me if I am wrong…If Stanford is need blind, you stand a really good chance there…Apply widely, and you will be attending a top school…All I can say is impressive ass resume…lol…

Harvard, MIT, and Yale are all need blind for internationals (at least they say they are). Duke is not need blind for internationals. I would be shocked if the OP chose Duke over these schools anyway. I haven’t met many kids like him at Duke.

From my conversations with my brother, Duke seems like old money and MIT is just plain smart. I’m not saying one is better than the other, just very different. I had no desire to go to MIT, but I also wanted to have some fun in college.

thanks for your replies friends,
If compared i would definitely choose MIT over Harvard, but want to keep some safeties.Could you all please recommend some safeties?

regards,
Romil :)

well if your going the tech/IT route then safety would be Caltech :P

But seriously I think good schools would be:

Purdue
Georgia Tech
Carnegie Mellon
Case Western

Just my 2 cents

Yeah Duke isn’t a safety school just to tell you. They are extremely selective on what they choose, they have rejected many Valedictorians before and people who have gotten perfect on their SAT/ACT. Also Duke’s policy on recommendation is that they don’t care about recommendations from Research professors (what I means that you can send it but it won’t be evaluated as a teacher’s recs and won’t be part of their decision making). Duke wants unique students, students that stand out rather than be a person who has the same quality as others (aka they don’t want Asians, like me, who possess the same interest and have done the same activities as others)

^^Duke probably likes the higher SAT score more than anything else (I knew some fairly technocratic students at my HS who just made 2300’s on their SAT’s and got straight A’s and they were in; they didn’t do much outside schoolwork, maybe one activity outside.)

You’re in, pretty much. As for safeties, go with airegin’s list.

you are most likely going to get into every school in the country, especially with all of those national awards.

the only problem here that i notice may be that you are an international applying for financial aid. the only school need-blind to you is harvard. princeton may be as well, not sure.

If you’re even applying, you won’t get in to WashU. I know it sounds ridiculous, but they reject applicants that they KNOW will be accepted to better schools. Its called Tufts Syndrome and for two weeks after you find out about WashU you’ll be extremely nervous until HYPSM decisions are released.

Its sort of comical though because then the people who aren’t qualified assume that they were rejected because they were actually too stellar of applicants. I don’t think you’ll fall in that camp though. Best of luck.
