Junior year, I won an award for ranking 4th in NJ on a American Association of Teachers of French Exam.

I really want to study foreign languages. I love French, and I have taken spanish as my elective since sophomore year. I plan on saying that I will major in French (do you think this will help me considering I am a male and there arent too many guys that want to major in French?)

My essay will highlight my passion for foreign languages/cultures.

I am also very interested in Dartmouth, Haverford, and Williams so any feed-back on them would be cool too. Thanks!

A 31 on the ACT is like 1360 - 1390 on the SAT which is a tiny bit low for Middlebury and, unfortunately your SAT II’s are in the same range. Are you taking another SAT II in November (they can be submitted instead of SAT I) or re-taking the SAT? I realize that you couldn’t do ED then, but it might be worth going for the extra boost in scores before applying. And you could do ED II. Just a thought. You’re close, but I’d be a little worried.

Actually, 31 is their mid-range ACT, and applying ED with those scores would be better than RD with a theoretically better score. No SAT2 in French?
Will you consider running? Of course with the language interest, Midd is a great fit for you.

Oldbatesie- I took the SATII in French in May and got a 650 but i figured I would not send it because it was lower than the other two Subject tests. I was going to take it again November (that is the only month that offers it with listening) because I hear that is easier but I’m going to be out of the country so I will not be able to. Do you think I should still send the 650? Also, yes I plan on running but I don’t think that will do much for admission (trying out when I get up there because my times are not yet at the “recruiting level”)

Hitch- I figured I would just send the 31 on the ACT because like Oldbatesie said, it is in their mid-range ACT and when I visited, they really stressed how they view applicants holistically and that test scores can only give them so much insight into a person…

…bump…

sorry-off line-I wouldn’t send the 650-don’t think it will help and actually I would pretend I never took SAT2s. They are not going to help you in any way, unless you can crack 700. The ACT is fine, send that. Luckily Midd lets you choose.
I think expressing interest in running, and even contacting the coach can help, because it’s another way you can add to the student body.
Have you visited?

i have a quick question, can you submit like 1 sat 2 and your sat 1 if you want…? i did really well on history and i just want to add that in ^__^

I have visited, and I am visiting this month for a second time. I have also been in contact a few times over the past year with my local rep. Do you think Midd takes expressed interest into consideration

and levin- yes, midd doesnt require SatIIs so whatever you send them in addition to the required sat1 that will help you is good.

Absolutely expressed interest will help. Good Luck!

thank you!
