Hi, I am an international student( Indian CBSE student) who has applied to Georgia Tech. Major Mechanical Engg
My SAT scores are CR:620 Math:700 Writing: 620 Composite: 1940 My high school rank is top 10%(10/139) in a very competitive school with highly rigorous curriculum. My ninth and tenth grade CGPA is 10/10. My 11th grade percentage is 93.2% Subject tests Math Level 2: 800 Chem: 740(Retook in Dec) Phy:710(Retook in Dec)
I have almost 30-35 hours of community service. I also played for my school cricket team, I won the science and social science exhibition for two years running, represented my school at national level for same, I have a merit certificate from CBSE(My education board, for perfect GPA in grade 10) and also many prizes for debating, elocutions, maths projects, etc. What are my chances of getting accepted. I have also been awarded the scholar badge (Percentage more than 91%) for 4 years running. My essay is decent(7.5/10) and writing supplement is excellent(9.5/10). I have an outstanding recommendation from my chem teacher and a good one from my counsellor. What chance do i have of getting accepted.

Please help me as I am becoming very tensed as decision date is approaching. Any honest answer is appreciated.

Well the international deadline was 15th Dec. so you cant retake the SAT but still i would say you do have a chance. I wont get my hopes too high but still it is worth a shot. Btw I am also an indian, SAT=2260, applied to Gtech this year. very best of Luck. !!

Thanks for the reply and best of luck for ur GT app. I already applied EA. Also, I checked some of the stats of students previously admitted and it seems many people got admitted with 1900’s. So I hope I get admitted somehow. This year the 25th percentile is also around 1910. Also, I think, GT gives a lot of priority to school grades and rigor apart from SAT’s. Any thoughts on this.

Also, which other colleges have u applied to.

Im also an indian and i too applied EA. I think your SAT score is low and the average sat scores for GA tech are going to increase this year with them switching to the common app. however, your grades are great so id say high match.

Soccerguy7 is right this year there might be an increase in avg. SAT scores due to commonapp. Plus almost every school is a little tough for internationals when compared to US nationals. So it is always better to have a margin.

I applied Princeton SCEA… Got deferred. Now i am applying to almost all the ivies plus Purdue and Ohio state as my safeties. Btw you should also consider purdue. You should get in there. And it is almost at par with ga tech.

Yeah I applied to Purdue-EA and TAMU-EA and I am applying to Ohio and Penn state as well. Looks like ur scores are pretty good since u are applying to all ivies.
Sorry to hear about Princeton but hope u get a good college of ur choice in the ivies. Good luck.
BTW do u live in India or somewhere else.

Well i wont say my scores are pretty good, 2200+ are all the same for ivies. And i am applying only to prevent the future “what if’s” I have, as such, no huge hopes from them :P

And yes I live in India. Where do you live ?
