Have you tried taking the ACT? I think you could do a lot better on your ACT as opposed to your sat I score.

you need a 2300+… seriously…

sorry, not too good, not amazing gpa, not good testing and no real ecs

Where do you rank in your class? Did you take all of your school’s hardest classes? How does the SAT break out? Has your school produced other Siemens winners? Are you perhaps a recent immigrant?

But what about Seimens and ISEF winnings? Don’t the weigh in?

Not a recent immigrant, I take a pretty decent course load, 3 APs, I’m at the top 15% of my class?

I’m sorry, but it isn’t looking good, plus it looks like you need full aid because of your income bracket

Haven’t you heard…it is Global Climate change now!!!

I don’t think ISEF and Siemens can make up for a poor GPA and lack of other extracurriculars. SAT’s may have been excusable if that was the only flaw… I’d say you have a good chance at Northwestern and other top 15’s though. I would say Princeton and Harvard are unlikely, but not impossible.

Yes, Siemens will weigh in. It will be especially impressive if you’re the first or a rare winner at your school. Colleges do know what schools are organized to produce winners (like my DS’s, so it’s no big deal there). Yet that alone will not overcome rank and low SAT scores in most cases. Give it your best shot, but have other schools you love.

You go to Frannie Lew? Haha, my friend would know you.

@jlighter
Princeton and Harvard are need-blind.

That being said, you need much stronger standardized test scores.

I know people at Yale with lower scores who also competed in science research competitions. One person I’m thinking of was an Intel STS semifinalist.

I know nothing about science fairs and I’m not sure how your awards compare to the person’s I mentioned. But I do know that scores are not everything. Write some killer essays that show some personality.

Those scores certainly do not rule you out.

Those science fair things are national awards that I got third place in…with my team of course

^
that will get u very far in fact. U really have a good chance for all schools if you increase your SAT scores and ace the essays. U must show that u have good character and be compelling on why should they take u. Thats prolly all I can say.

What’s your rank?

As others have said, your scores will keep you out. You have some impressive accomplishments, but your SAT will need to be higher (though not necessarily 2300+).

ehh, you shouldve mentioned your isef/ siemens scores were from teams. your sat is near the bottom for being accepted to harvard.

^Eh, not true.

Try retaking the SAT in december or january or something. But tons of people do get in with 2000+.

^tons?

You know what one ton is correct? 2000 lb’s? So with a little application of reasoning in context, you’re saying more than 2000 people (tonS) get in with 2000+? Unless you’re using tons to say “alot”, which is probably the case considering you’re a senior member (assuming senior members know their sh1t)
