Hey (:
Harvard seems like a bit of a reach for you, as it is a very competitive school. However, you have an incredibly strong application (great GPA, good EC’s), so you’ll definitely be able to get into a great school, though Harvard seems a bit unlikely.
I recommend retaking the SAT, that would definitely improve your application. Focus on CR, that’ll for sure help your score go up.
Good luck!

To be honest, you have no chance. Your GPA, SAT score, and EC’s are simply not enough for Harvard.

What is your class rank or estimated percentile? And would that ‘competitive’ high school be Andover?

It seems nice. You should retake SAT focusing on critical reading. I see a slight chance to be honest.

I would try to get recruited for Golf. That’s your best shot, otherwise you may need to try the “lower” ivies (which are still just as amazing). Even then, that’s only if your class rank is in the top decile or quintile.

This is my thread, complete list is updated on post 43: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1370966-finding-match-schools.html</a></p>

Harvard will be a reach for you. SAT/GPA a little too low… ideally you would want 3.9/2200+ or so, but you never know what will happen if you don’t apply.
Harvard is a very high reach, but hey–anything could happen. I wouldn’t count on it, though. Good luck.

It completely depends on the context of the gpa and the competitiveness of your school (how many are going to top colleges this yr?)

If its competitive, you may have a shot, but you need to work on that sat for a higher chance.

Some advice?

okay, so I don’t know if Harvard knows about your school and the kind of rigor it provides, although I’m guessing that they don’t look at high schools. i think GPA-wise, you might be done right then and there. sorry, but it’s not near the 25th percentile. Your SAT might stand up to Harvard’s level, although I’m not sure it does. do you have a hook? because that might just be what saves your application from going into the rejection pile. but, as others have said, anything can happen. you have a nice list of extracurriculars. don’t take it too hard if you are rejected though, because alot of people are rejected from Harvard

Could you chance me back?- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1358327-chance-me-please.html</a>
Thanks :)

your GPA seems to be in a healthy spot for harvard,

what’s falling short is your SAT Is, what SATIIs did you take?

ECs appear to be solid, but lack a ‘leadership’ aspect, it takes more than simply ‘being a captain’ to catch the eyes of an admission counselor for a school as highly ranked as harvard.

You have a solid shot at Harvard.

Definitely try to get your SAT score up. Maybe try taking the ACT as I found their CR section to be easier.

Your EC’s are spectacular, especially the one about the Harvard internship! Try to shift the focus onto them with your essay and maybe thoroughly describe some leadership experience you’ve had as that might be lacking.

Good luck though! Can you please chance me back?!

SAT 2s were 710 Math 2 and 750 US History if that matters.
