If you chance me, I’ll chance you back–just link to your own thread.

Definitely apply to a school if you like it. Obviously, it is tough to give you an idea of how you will do in admissions without seeing an essay. I recommend figuring out your interests and applying to schools with strong programs in your interests.

u should still apply to ivies regardless of your common ec’s because your application is a staple crop to ivies. I know someone with stats similar to yours who was accepted to MIT, though 2350 SAT and val, but pretty similar.

Being a junior myself, grades aren’t going to be your problem. But then again, I live in Vancouver (woot Olympic 2010), some of the smartest people who have received 2400s in SAT I reasonings were deferred from Yale, uPenn and Columbia. This shocked me and made me contemplate the question of why? The commonalities between these top-notch academic students were, that their extracurriculars are unfortunately weak.

Anyways, that being said, I am the absolute opposite. I have satisfactory grades, but superb extra curriculars. Good luck to you! I hope I meet you somedays and you could enlighten me with your genius academic capabilities!

there’s not a lot of difference between your chances at these schools since they’re all tier one- you have a very competitive profile so i’d focus on finding a list of colleges you really like including some that you have a better chance of getting into (you could get into one of these, but make sure you find one or two that are sure bets). i’d say they’re all low to mid reaches for you, so just apply to whatever schools stand out to you. good luck! :)

chance me back?

chance me back plz

Academically, you’re definitely competitive with HYP’s pool of applicants, but your EC’s are seriously lacking

Based upon the fact that you’re an asian male, I would say that you need to do something amazing this summer to make up for the relative shortage of EC’s.

Would qualifying for AIME or USAMO or participating and scoring well in the USABO or UNSCO help compensate for my lack of extracurriculars?

not really you should probably somehow soon find something that you can put a lot of effort into and passion to show schools like a truer you. It could be anything because most schools like HYP already have applicants with scores like this by the thousands

Yeah, I agree with the above posters who said that you are definitely academically strong, but lack in EC’s. You need to show more leadership and achievement in those activities. These schools don’t want boring kids who just study and don’t have fun with other people. (I didn’t mean for that to be an attack on you.) Good luck next year!
