I got into JHU,UCLA,U-Mich,CMU,Rice and UCSB but Imperial has a lot of advantages for me(Especially it is relatively close to my country) so I would appreciate if you can chance me.

Hi eagle017,

For US students, British admissions is slightly more complex. (I know a little about UK admissions, because at first I wanted to apply to Cambridge/Imperial back then, so I did a little research but decided not to apply in the end) All UK college admissions are processed through an entity known as UCAS, which you must register to become a member ([UCAS Non-UK Students: Non-UK students](http://www.ucas.ac.uk/students/nonukstudents/)). For the most part, UK admissions differs from that of US admissions in that they look for merits in the field that you’re interested in studying in, whereas US schools tend to favor students who are well-rounded and strong both extracurricular and academically-wise.

That said, if you are currently a HS senior, it is too late to apply. Admissions at Imperial starts in October-ish and all admissions decisions are released by the end of March. (Internationals are generally expected to apply earlier) You may consider going to Imperial as for study abroad. I know that UMich engineering offers a program where you can spend a semester at Imperial.

Good luck, and congrats on your admits. The schools that you’ve gotten into are excellent schools.

Thank you for your post. I thought it would be too late but I saw on the website that late applications are accepted between 15 january and 15 june.Actually I’m an int’l student for US too  Well I guess that’s it for England=)

^I highly doubt that the late applications are directed towards us non-UK students, because international apps typically require more time to process.

But for an international student at US schools, I must say that your admission results are mighty impressive. Where do you plan to go?

Thank you very much! I was devastated when Cal had rejected me(was my first rejection)but now I think thats not that bad. I have to choose between JHU, Rice, U of Michigan,UCLA and UCSB.I am going to visit a few of them next week.In my major(which is physics) it is told that best is UCSB but I have serious doubts about student life.I think Mich is my second choice.Do you think you can give me some advice both for visiting and choosing?
Btw,do you think I should take my chances amd apply through UCAS?
