Awards:
State awards for Speech and debate
Probably some AP award in the future, sorry about the future stuff, I can't really give an honest take but based on my motivation I'm sure that I will get one
3 years of being the top ten within the nation on the National French Exam
Honor Roll
Hopefully National Honors Society

Summer: Worked as a receptionist at an Environmental Response company, and I am applying for the Page program within the U.S. Senate for my junior year.

Background:
State: Not telling because of safety purposes, however a state that doesn't produce a lot of ivy league applicants
Income: Less than 40,000 a years - single parent mom
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Hook: URM

Now my questions is, of course, do I have a chance? And is it true that I have a more likely chance because of the fact that I'm Hispanic and I am an under represented minority?

You have a lot of good extracurriculars, but your work experience is slightly lacking. Your ACT is strong and you have great course rigor. I don’t want to be insensitive, but being a URM is obviously going to be helpful. I would put you at Low reach to High match for all the ivies besides Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1531795-chances-cornell-cmu-georgia-tech-will-chance-back.html

Minority with a 35 ACT and solid GPA is a good start. EC are fantastic and u demonstrate leadership via your debate team…stress this to show u have leadership qualities–admissions committees love to see this!

Cornell: Match
I think u have a solid chance (low reach) for: UPenn, Columbia, Brown, Dartmouth
reach (solid reach) for Yale, Princeton
Harvard—low reach specifically b/c of your income

chance back!?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1527194-brandeis-chance-will-apply-ed-chance-back-2.html

You have a really good chance for lower Ivies such as Brown, Cornell, and Dartmouth. I would say high match to low reach, your gpa is somewhat low so that’s why. The others are reaches (though they are for everyone), albeit reachable.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1525734-chance-me-umiami-any-merit-aid-will-chance-back-3.html#post16197713

You have a great chance at the lower ivies (brown, cornell, dartmouth, upenn), and HYP and Columbia are still in range, but you’re gonna have lower chances at those.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1529474-chance-me-ucla-please.html

Not sure! I’ll still apply, always hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. But it is an excellent question that you just posed, what is my gut feeling? My gut feeling is that no matter what university i attend, it in no way reflects my intelligence or abilities, that somehow everything will end up where it is suppose to be. :)
