Please Chance Me for Liberal Arts and BS/MD? WILL CHANCE BACK

Hey guys! Just submitted a few apps a couple days ago and I dreadfully nervous. No ne Ed to give me advice since I can't really do anything now, but be brutally honest.
Applying to:
U of Maryland College Park (state flagship, submitted)
George Washington BS/MD program
Georgetown EA (submitted)
Barnard RD
Wellesley RD
Rice BS/MD program (It's a stretch)
Columbia RD (It's a stretch)
Brown PLME (Super duper stretch)

GPA: 3.95 UW/4.7 W
Rank: School doesn't rank, but probably high
SAT: 2300 one sitting
SAT II: Math II (750), Biology M (800), Chemistry (800)

Senior Yr Courseload: AP Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Bio, AP Spanish Lit, H. Physics, Creative Writing and Ethnic Lit (each one sem course)
Note: I looked at my school's AP Spanish Lit scores, and they weren't pretty. Would failing the exam not affect anything since scores are released until July? Should I just not take the exam?

-Students in Print president 11-12
-DNAcademy 10-12, officer 11, president 12 (well recognized specialty academy in school, requires certain science courses and an internship)
-HS Science Program (another specialty program w/requirements) 9-12, officer 11-12

-Wrote a novel, working on publishing it

Note: I joined a community soccer league the spring of my junior yr and I'm continuing this fall. I did this purely for fun and to alleviate stress, so should I not include this on college apps (no long term commitment)? I didn't include it on my georgetown or UMD apps.

Awards:
-Dance awards mentioned above
-Chemathon mentioned above
-Science Fair stuff, nothing real special
-Local writing competition finalist
-Story published in natl magazine
-AP scholar w/Distinction
-County service award for 260+ volunteer hrs

Essays: Lots of stuff, talked about my family in India emigrating to the US, my interests in both science and English (which is why I'm applying to liberal arts and BS/MD programs), and more personal things. My english teachers liked them a lot.

Gender: F (probably obvious considering I'm applying to 2 all women's colleges)
Ethnicity: Indian (also should have been obvious)
Hook: Well these days, being Asian is an anti hook, esp. when applying to BS/MD programs
State: MD
School type: Very competitive public, top ranked

Thanks everyone, and sorry this is s long (though I've seen longer)! Be sure to leave me a link to your chance thread so I can chance you too.

Hey, your profile looks great – I think, in several ways, you don’t have to be “dreadfully nervous.” To be honest, I hate giving chances, because, as a high school student, I of course cannot give the perspective of a college admissions officer. However, I will critique your application.

To begin with, you are academically sound. A 2300 is an awesome score, and is above the median for everywhere you are applying. On a similar note, your grades and course rigor are good. To respond to your question, I would still go through with taking AP Spanish Lit test – it shouldn’t hurt you at all, in my opinion, even if you do poorly on it.

The problem is that most students applying to the top schools on your list (like Brown) are academically sound, so it really comes down to the question of EC’s and essays. I of course cannot judge your essay, but your ECs appear strong. The main weakness, I believe, is that there is nothing that really makes you stand out – but that weakness is pretty minor. You show strong leadership, passion, and commitment to your EC’s, and that’s what really counts. In terms of the soccer, I would just leave that out, personally, but it won’t really matter either way.

Best of luck! Frankly, I can’t really tell for Wellesley and Barnard (I simply don’t know enough about them), but I would be surprised if you don’t make it to Georgetown, George Washington, and U of Maryland. As for Rice, Columbia, and Brown, I think you stand a much better shot than most people do. Granted, they, especially Columbia and Brown, are still reaches, just because they are so selective, but I also would not be surprised in the slightest if you got into all of them. You are very competitive in the process.

If you don’t mind, I’d love a chance back at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1394691-chances-selective-universities-thanks.html</a> . Thanks, and best of luck! :)

I am very confident that you will get into most of the colleges, and although columbia and brown are reaches, you are most definitely a competitive candidate. I was also impressed that you had the time to write a book with all the other stuff you do. :)

Thanks guys! Best of luck to the both of you as well.
