PLEASE chance me for my dream school!!

I have wanted to go to University of Washington for years now. I have fallen in love with their zoology and ASL programs and I absolutely love Seattle. UW is the place that I want to be. I am posting this because my GPA is lower than their usual admittance, but they are holistic and so I’m hoping some of my other stats will balance it out. Any suggestions on bolstering my application would be greatly appreciated!

OOS, competitive high school
I am a rising white female senior. I have a projected GPA of 3.5 (I had a 2.0 freshman year, big problems at home, but nevertheless…) and will have completed 5 APs by the end of senior year.

Thank you in advance!!

also, if it helps, my gpa has an upward trend.
Freshman: 2.0
Sophomore: 3.3 (still going through family stuff first semester)
Junior: 4.0

You are very competitive for the University of Washington (or do you mean Washington University in St Louis? These are two different schools). I would even say you could aim a bit higher. The only thing I could recommend would be to explain in the additional information section of the Common App any family problems that might provide some context for a low freshman GPA. The upward trend is great! Best of luck!

@thetsaria yes, i do mean university of washington in seattle! And thank you!!

anyone else?

you are in buddy.

I think that you’ll definitely get in. If you would like to, I think that it would be worth it to explain your family circumstances in the Extenuating Circumstances or Additional Information section of the application.

You’re in.

@charhunt17 I believe that you will be admitted; depending on the University of Washington’s merit aid programs, you may even be awarded some scholarship funds—however, I am no expert on UW’s scholarship funding, especially for out-of-state applicants, so bear that in mind.

You definitely stand a good chance, if not a great one;
and I don’t think your GPA will weigh you down very much.
Your EC’s are definitely fantastic, and it’s great you have many awards in some of them.
