I think you should be good at all three schools. Just remember to demonstrate interest at Tulane. Write all the essays. Send a supplemental E-Mail to your admissions counselor. Visit if you can afford it. In recent years a lot of people have gotten a surprise from Tulane when they thought their stats would suffice. That trend will no doubt continue with the recent uptick in yield and the 13 point jump in USNWR ranking. Your stats match the other two schools, but I am not aware of the relative emphasis they place on demonstrated interest. Congratulations on your success to date and good luck!

Getting into UMich as an OOS student is no less difficult than getting into a “lower” Ivy like Cornell or Brown. Can’t say for sure that an applicant will be good there, and I think the 3.48 GPA will unfortunately be what sinks you.

I don’t know enough about the other two to comment, so I won’t.

Relevant stats are U of Wis Acceptance Rate 50%, ACT 27-31, U of. Mich. Acceptance Rate 32%, ACT 29-33, Tulane Acceptance. Rate 28%, ACT 30-33. I agree with the poster who says that the admission rate is lower for out of staters. GPAs, however, are so situationally specific that it’s hard to evaluate (eg, difficulty of coursework, upward progression, difficulty of high school, GPA relative to classmates, weighted or unweighted, etc.). I would definitely apply to all three because, depending on how your GPA stacks up relative to those and other criteria, you are right in the pack of successful candidates. No guarantees, but you are in the pack.
