Please chance me for NYU (and others)

<p>Hello,</p>

<p>I was rejected by Columbia ED, so here I am. </p>

<p>From Los Angeles
Caucasian Male</p>

<p>Schools: NYU, Princeton, U Chicago, Dartmouth, Emerson, BU, USC, Brandeis, Fordham, Oregon, Hofstra, Vermont.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.6 unweighted, 4.07 weighted </p>

<p>SAT: 2090. Reading 740 Writing 750 Math 600</p>

<p>ACT 32</p>

<p>Essays: Common App Literary figure who has influenced...wrote about Jack Kerouac and how he inspired me to become a writer. A little experimental at times but I really like it and so did my english teacher.
For U Chicago Find X: wrote a short story about my contemplative moods that provoke writing, definitely experimental.
For Princeton Used a quote from On The Road and wrote about my love of Jazz.</p>

<p>AP's: Sophomore: Euro History 5
Junior: US History 5, English Language 5, Chem 1
Senior: Statistics, Biology, English Lit, Government, Econ</p>

<p>Grades, A's and B's...A's in regular classes usually B's in honors/AP...though last year got A's in APUSH and AP language</p>

<p>EC's: Marching and concert band 4 years (trumpet section leader)
Jazz Band 3 years (lead guitarist) </p>

<p>Prospective English/ Creative writing major.</p>

<p>I know Princeton and UChicago will likely not happen, however I would be very disappointed if I didn't get into both USC and NYU...I think I should be able to get into one of those, hopefully NYU. Thoughts?</p>

<p>Princeton and UChicago are slim. You have a really high chance at schools like BU and Oregon, those are pretty much golden. For the rest of the ones that I know about, you have a pretty good chance. UW GPA is a little low and your test scores could be a teeny bit higher, but I think you have a 70-80% chance at both NYU and USC. My stuff is similar to what you have too (from LA also :)) and I was told that I had a good chance at those schools, so you should too.</p>

<p>^Agree, and I’d put USC at 50/50. The SAT CR plus math is an issue. I think you’ll have a good shot at NYU, but not with much aid, so you’re OK if you can afford it.</p>
