To consider:
-My father makes around 130k, my mom doesn’t work. (I’ve heard WashU doesn’t look at people who can’t exactly afford it well)
-I have quite a few more Ec’s, but there’s really no reason to list them, i.e. Am. red cross, NHS, etc. Clubs that I’m not active enough to make it a highlight.
-I will be visiting and interviewing at WashU in about a week (I’ve also heard WashU really likes the interest shown)

Hi!

I’m going to start off with the fact that WashU is a very selective school and is very difficult to get in to. Do not be dissapointed if you do not get in in ~8 months.

That being said, your credentials look very well rounded, and look typical for a WashU student. They don’t really look at weighted GPA, and your regular is on the lower end of the spectrum. While this may be offset by your high standard test scores, it would be best if you loaded your senior year up with more difficult classes and worked hard to raise that number to show WashU that you care about that. They want to know that you can handle the classes once in STL.

Your ECs look awesome. Things like your debate show leadership, and your many internship shows your ability to reach out. They like that.

I will say that they are not need-blind, though in my experience the need doesn’t seem to affect acceptance all too much. People in my class are all over the place.

They LOVE interest. They want to know that you want to go there, so attending meets, interviewing, seeing campus, sending emails, applying for as many of their scholarships as possible all show that you want to attend. Someone that has lower scores but showed the love is much more likely to get in than someone with perfect everything but ignored them.

Overall, you seem to have a pretty average chance of getting in. I wouldn’t say “You’re fine”, but I also wouldn’t say “You won’t get in”. Its depends on what you do with your senior year. If you waste it with easy classes, you probably won’t, but if you load it up with AP/IB, you have a good chance.

Good luck with this coming year! Stay in touch with WashU. Show the love, and they might show it back!
