I think you’re a strong candidate. Keep up the good work. And, if you are female, your chances are even better!
Thanks! Altough I’m male so that hurts.
I know its unlikely but do I have a chance for merit aid?
You might want to check the website for merit awards and such.
Bump. Anyone else?
Anyone?
@lionking973 Merit aid is not unlikely at all, essentially everyone at RPI that’s from the United States gets some form of aid unless their parents make a ludicrous amount of money. I’m going to say 8 times out of 10 you’re going to get in - write a good essay and RPI will be wooed. Your SAT score is the game changer here (it’s heavily considered for admission to RPI). The median SAT for the Class of 2021 was a 1410 with a 1300-1520 range (25th percentile-75 percentile) so you’re going to be top 25% in terms of that metric. Your GPA is a little below average, but your SAT makes up for that by far.
I had a 1420/1600 on the old SAT and a similar schedule and they gave me over $40,000 between merit and need based aid. Note, I’m also a white male with middle income from in-state. Your stats far surpass mine so I wouldn’t be surprised if you got full tuition. Moving off campus significantly reduces costs and working part time/internships also help cover costs a lot. I’m a current sophomore, if you have any questions feel free to PM me!!
