<p>I am currently a senior and I'm planing on applying to Stanford, University of Pennsylvania (Wharton school of Business), Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, Berkeley, UCLA, and probably UCSB and UCSD as backups.</p>

<p>Cumulative GPA for 9-11: weighted=4.28; unweighted=4.0 (taking all 8 APs that my school offers)
Class rank: 1 of 146
Sat's are my weakest point: 2090 (620 CR, 700 W, 770 Math)
I go to a decent public school in a small ranching community in rural California... not sure if this will hurt me or help me
AP Euro: 3
AP US History: 5
AP English Language: 4
Senior year taking AP Eng lit, AP Calc AB, AP Gov, AP Spanish 4, and AP Environmental science (independent)</p>

<p>ECs:
-ASB President
-Junior Class President
-3 years of FNL youth mentoring 200+ hrs
-Job at high-end restaurant (4 years) (6 hrs per week)
-went to California Boys' State (camp for top Cali leaders)
-went to 1 month long business camp at Wharton School of Business at UPenn. (before senior year)
-3 week summer foreign exchange to Germany with Rotary Scholarship (before junior year)
-3 years of Link Crew (Help freshman in high school)
-Academic Decatholon for 4 years with many awards including 6 1sts and 3 seconds
-Cross Country 10th and 11th grade
-Tennis 9th, 11th, and 12th grade
-Football freshman year
-Drama (2 years) performed in play & musical, and wrote & directed own play
-Won school math comp, won county essay competition, 2nd in speech competition twice.
-VP and confounder of Spanish Honors Society club
-VP and confounder of Politically aware club
-President of CSF
-VP of Interact volunteer club
-founded county coat drive out of school (4 years)(collected over 1000 coats)</p>

<p>I also come from a really small town and close nit ranching community with only 700 kids at my school... not sure if this will help me or hurt me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.</p>

<p>Also, do you recommend that I even put the sports if I took a year off in the middle or do not play the sport competitively anymore.</p>

<p>Right now your SAT is killing your chances, raise it 200 points and you’ve got a great shot.</p>

<p>Agreed, lots of ECs can’t rectify weak test scores. Best shot? Retake the SAT or try the ACT. Also, your college list is REALLY upper-tier heavy. I would definitely have a lot more target & safety schools.</p>

<p>Being from rural CA very much helps your chances at UCs. You have a excellent shot at Cal and UCLA. Your SATs will make Stanford and ivies tough.</p>

<p>Yeah I completely agree that my SAT is the largest blemish on my record (especially in CR) but I’m planning on taking it again in November and I hope to raise it as much as possible. Additionally, I’ll be taking my SAT 2s in October and I’m hoping to get 750+ in both Math II and US History.</p>
