Please chance me for SUNY Bing, SUNY Buffalo, W&M, Yale, Skidmore, and BU

Hello, I'd like to know if I have a good chance of getting into SUNY Binghamton, Buffalo, Yale, Skidmore, Boston University, William and Mary (yeah, I'm out of state, I know) and/or American University. I'm also looking into Penn State, but not sure (OOS on that too, yikes) I'm from a very good, diverse public school (I don't mean all minority, half white, quarter Hispanic, quarter black) on Long Island, South Shore, so it's very overrepresented in the SUNYs, making it harder to get in. :/ Here goes:

3.9 GPA total from freshman to now, beginning of senior year (unweighted)

7 APs, all 5s except Chem (4) and Lit (4)
CLEP Spanish & Latin
Every class I have taken in high school has been honors or AP

2200 SAT score
All 6 SAT II's above 700, Spanish was 800 (I love Spanish)
All regents exams above 94, except chem (92)

Mock Trial, Model UN (Sec-Gen), Debate Club (President)
Secretary of FBLA this year
Over 130 hours of community service
No sports (I have asthma)
I've been on the school's award-winning newspaper since 10th grade

I've won many local awards for writing and things like that

Recs: Gov Teacher/Mock Trial coach & English/Journalism teacher are writing them

Violin all through middle and high school
Chamber Orchestra
Orchestra President
Many school awards, honors, etc.
Pit Orch 2 years
Perfect NYSSMA scores 3 times
My school is something called a "Grammy school"

Tri-M, Spanish Honor Society, NHS, Service Honor Society
Student Council

I am a mostly white female, I'm 25% Puerto Rican (I have the documents to prove it), but I don't speak Spanish at home, my half-Hispanic parent doesn't even know Spanish. No one in my entire extended family speaks Spanish, the ones from Puerto Rico/Spain are all dead, to put it bluntly. I'm blonde and sort of look Swedish, so I can't say I've encountered any "adversity" for being Spanish.

4 years of Spanish in HS
3 years of Latin in HS (took Regents)
Took all math regentses, plus Pre-Calc & Calc classes after (4 years of math)
5 high school-level years of science (earth science [in 8th], bio, chem, physics, AP Bio)
4 years of English
4 years of History (APWH and APUS)

My school has IB but I chose not to do it, I didn't like the system of learning (Theory of Knowledge and all that)

I'm upper middle class, no underprivileged background here, I don't want to take away from anyone who is's opportunity either!

Yale's my dream school, I doubt I'll get in, but I've been dreaming since I was 9, seriously.

My family honestly can't afford sticker price of a private school at all, they will pay a max of 20k a year, so I need financial aid for a private school. Please tell me if I have a chance of getting any to any of the private schools I named. FAFSA4Caster predicted some pretty grim results. :/

I want to major in History (to become a history teacher), PoliSci/Gov to get into lobbying or become a government teacher, or Business/Marketing type of thing. (not sure yet)

Thanks!! =)

Anyone? You don’t have to chance me for every college, I’d mostly like chances for Bing and Boston U.

SUNY Bing- SAFETY!
Really, at least 3 people from my school last year got accepted into Bing with 2.5 weighted averages (80). And I’m coming from the queens, NYC area, another overrepresented area concerning the SUNYs.
Boston U, Buffalo, American, - Safeties
AU- Easy Match
Yale- High reach, not necessarily a crapshoot, but you’ll need a killer essay and recs. However, you do have strong ECs.

Have you heard of/considered Macaulay Honors? It’s full ride for any one of the CUNY 4 years, plus some fringe benefits (laptops, stipend, “passport to the city”)

Thanks, and no, I’ve never heard of Macaulay. Sounds interesting, and I am considering Baruch because I can take the train there. Downside = no dorms, I kinda want to go away but who knows.

You can definitely get in SUNY Binghamton and SUNY Buffalo.

Ooops. Haha I forgot to log off my twin sister’s (yalebound) account. :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks

I would check out SUNY Geneseo. Especially, if you are considering some small LAC’s.

you will walk into the SUNY schools

I am from Buffalo and I also do mock trial! Where you from?

SUNY Buffalo is a safety, but don’t be fooled, UB is really a great school for Engineering/Business/Medicine and others. PoliSci and all that have very good departments at UB.

SUNY Binghamton you should have no problem, but it is a pretty damn competitive school, so stranger things have happened.

Good luck!

Binghamton is not a safety. It is probably THE BEST value college in the nation. Yeah yeah, my sister goes there but my cousin didn’t get accepted with a 4.2 GPA (on a 4.5 scale, like a 94%), 31 ACT, 2100 SAT, and 12 varsity sports in highschool. She applied to the nursing program.

I don’t know about NY state schools, but you’re definitely in at BU and American U (and you’d have a decent chance at merit aid too).

Yale’s obviously a reach for anyone, but you never know if you don’t try!

Good luck!

SUNY Binghamton-safe
Buffalo- unsure
Yale- reach
Skidmore-low target
Boston University-low target
William and Mary-target
American University-safety
Penn State-safe

you have great stats and seem to be into music a lot. I feel that a more artsy lib arts school would fit better. Like skidmore, especially where you can get a strong social science degree that can translate into a business masters in grad school. Check out bard, union, vassar, sarah lawrence, etc. I think you are a very strong candidate though for these schools, especially if you have a great essay and supplement for yale, you could get in. It would be tough for aid there though. The others you could easily get aid.

chance me?

the nursing program at binghamton is also very selective due to the extremely small size of it. Many people want in, so I wouldn’t say it’s a reach for you if you’re not applying to nursing. I visited there and that’s one thing they stressed was the high selectivity and small size of their nursing program.
