I will be honest with you.

My prediction: AT LEAST 3 acceptances from HYPSM.

don’t aim for very solid on your essay, aim for exceptional/better than everyone else’s

20more, thanks :)

Imasophomore, thanks… I’ll keep that in mind :)

I totally agree with 20more. However, you seem very music-oriented when looking at your ECs. But you shadowed a dentist? Your ECs just don’t insinuate passion for one thing- the same problem I’m having :frowning: but you should get into the college of your choice!

Hmm… Interesting

okay, so your minority status gives you an IMMENSE advantage. if your voice is AMAZING, you should send in a music supplement to showcase your talent, according to your awards it is probably fantastic. with a great musical talent, and all of your excellent stats, along with your minority status, my prediction is that you’ll get into at least one of your top choices :)

Bump10char

you wouldn’t have to bump if you chanced other people and chanced back the ones who chanced you…

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1168613-chances-congressional-page-columbia-ed-will-chance-back.html

You’ll prob. get in to top schools based on Academics alone. Not many URMs get that SAT score.

Not trying to show any disprespect to URMs but I’d have to agree with dblazer. You should feel very comfortable applying to the Ivies, Stanford and Duke. They always look for stellar musicians.

You’re fine URM or not. Sure, Ivies are unpredictable, but the musical passion in addition to the stellar academics will be a good combination. Just make sure to show that in your essays.

Chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1168301-may-i-have-chance.html

I know a Chinese girl who got into Stanford from my school by merit of her singing talent. Your URM status + SAT + musical ability will almost guarantee acceptance to an Ivy or Stanford. I’ve heard ED Duke is relatively easy to get into (ED Cornell too), so you shouldn’t have much issue. You might even get a Robertson scholarship there.

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1168046-thread-has-interesting-title-ill-chance-back.html

To be honest, terrific application, I would be surprised if you didn’t get into at least 1 of HYPSM and duke.

Thank you all :)

You stand a very good chance, with those SATs and your URM status. Of course, nothing is guaranteed though…

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1169583-chance-nervous-senior-will-chance-back.html

I think you should retake your SAT IIs or take more if you have time. Otherwise, I think you stand a great chance wherever you apply.

Your stats are similar too those that accepted into HYPSM schools.

AND . . your stats are similar to those that are rejected from HYPSM schools

Both are true

Example: Brown said no to
85% of those with 750-790 CR
87% of those with 750-790 Math
78% of those wiht an 800 Writing
89% of those with GPA in the top 10% of their class

Take home messages:
1- GO FOR IT
2- Love Thy Safeties; there are literally tens of thousands of applicants to HYPSM that have similar stats to yours; sinice acceptance rates overall are in the 5%-15% range many worthy, capable applicants with stats similar to yours that will not get in

I know a kid with a 2320 SAT and 35 ACT, ranked 2 in class and overall genius.

Rejected by every Ivy, Duke, and UChicago. He’s going to UNC Chapel Hill next year.

Don’t get too confident based on what CC says. You have a really, really good shot, but everything is unpredictable. Good luck to you!

Thanks for chancing me.
I would say you have a great shot at duke, as well as stanford. You should try applying to more HYPSM schools, because you have similar stats as students who get in and you never know with these schools.
