I don’t know the acceptance rate for many of those colleges except Amherst and Upenn, but you don’t have a very good shot. Any college with an acceptance rate below 50% is going to be a reach, and Amherst and Upenn are top colleges. I suggest you get more match schools like Hofstra and work your butt of in college. Go to Ivies for grad school. Affordability also a big factor.nof those colleges are your dream schools then write stellar essays as to why you want to go to those colleges. Do not mention prestige. Write why you think you’d be a fit, and what that college has to offer you. Also get some safety schools.
Your SAT/ACT scores and GPA to an extent are REALLY low for Amherst and still not that good for the others.
@Blue4940 he was referring to UMass-Amherst and Penn State, NOT Upenn and Amherst. Maybe you should learn to read before being so quick to judge other people’s chances
I clearly said penn state and umass lol read before you answer. @Blue4940 @anxiousenior1
@warrior481 My bad… I’m sorry… I’ve never heard of Umass- Amherst, so I assumed it was amherst. And for penn-state that was just ehh. Your chances are pretty okay then Your GPA seems a little low for some of those colleges, but try hard first semester senior year and I think you’ll get in. Oh and @alexj170 You sound more mad than the person that should be. Chill.
@Blue4940 its okay no worries haha, it happens, & yeah, truth be told, i hope my essay pushes me to get into some of those schools.
I’m currently a high school senior myself and I went a bit crazy and read tons of forums about all the schools I applied to/planned on applying to. We have the same SAT scores and my GPA is just a bit higher than yours and we also have the same course load with the AP/honors stuff. Personally I’m hoping for UConn, so I can’t help you there. My cousin goes to Hofstra now and your chances look good there. Same for Quinnipiac. I’m applying to Syracuse too and it looks like we’re both in the median for their scores. The chances of Bucknell are slim. Same for UMass. UPitt is kinda on the lower end of the accepted student scores. I don’t know enough about the rest, but obviously the fact you’re in all AP/honors classes will help. Also apply sooner rather than later. Best wishes!
what did your cousin get into hofstra with? and what was his/her major? & Why do you think that the chances for umass is slim? I feel like syracuse, uconn, umass are basically all the same chances but yes my top two right now are uconn and umass as well! I applied EA to umass and already applied to uconn but I wouldn’t mind going to hofstra, qunnipiac, etc @dani825
I believe she had around an 1850-1900 but I know a few other people who went to my school who got in with around a 1500. Her major is English with a concentration in journalism. Also she’s in the honors college. I got umass confused with another school I’m super sorry about that! But yeah Syracuse, Uconn, and Penn State seem to be about the same.
Umass is my top choice but i am also in love with Uconn. But with my stats, its gonna be hard to get into @dani825
Yeah I’m really nervous. I got into Seton Hall already but it was sorta my safety. I sent in my Uconn stuff the same day as Seton Hall but I’ll probably have to wait until like January to hear back from Uconn which is gonna kill me
Since you have the same stats as me, where else are yoy applying to? @dani825
I applied and got accepted to Seton Hall and I’m waiting on the University of Scranton, Syracuse University, University of Delaware, Rutgers, and obviously Uconn
