Please chance me for these schools, will chance you back if need be :D

International Student (Indian descent, Singapore passport)

We don't have GPA in the IB but probably around 3.6 (yea shit ;) )

SAT : 2050 , 740 math 660 reading 650 writing (redoing it in november, should be around 2100 superscored)

SAT II : Math level 2 760 , Physics 700 (redid it in october, probably 750 ish)

IB : 36 HL Math 5 , Physics 6, ITGS 5
SL Chem 7 , English 6, French 5

References: I was predicted much higher in ITGS and teacher sensed foul play in my exam so she gave me a wonderful reference. Got another supposedly good one from my chem teacher :)

Extra Currs:
- National level chess player, was ranked in the top 5 of my country at u16 and am right now one of the top u19 players. FIDE rating : 1800 (Master is around 2000, to put it into perspective). Have around 10 national level trophies from high school years.
-100s of hours of community service with a service excellence award from my school
-Created school chess team and captained it to get 10th place in my country (quite impressive as we didn't even have a functional team before)

Chance me for these schools please :D
Carnegie Mellon ED (Information systems)
UVA EA (Engineering)
UIUC EA (Engineering)
USC RD (Computer science or engineering)
Purdue EA (Engineering)
UMich EA (Engineering)
Penn State (Engineering)
Lehigh (Engineering)

With that stats and EC’s,it’s a sure thing.

Thanks! But I highly doubt im a sure shot for all of them  Thanks for the input anyway :)

Oh and to add I also teach younger kids chess and have helped them gain success (moderate) in local level tournaments

Maybe get critical reading up a little more, then most will look like high matches like Purdue and a low reach like CMU

Really? Purdue seems to accept relatively low scoring kids from my school (1900 ish). But thanks a lot for the input :)

bump! I could really use some chancing D:

B

U

M

P

CMU, UVA, and USC may be rejections but you should get into at least one! You’ll get into the others! Chance back please?

Thanks for the feedback! Yea CMU UVA and USC are my 3 reaches, not too hopeful on them but if i get into one as you say I’ll be ecstatic  will chance u back asap

You’re an international student, therefore THE criterion for chancing you is whether you’ll need financial aid.
Once you’re answered this, it’ll be possible to chance you realistically.

Oh I don’t need financial aid

You have a good chance at all of these except UVA and CMU! ;D If you retake your SAT to get around 2150 then you’ll have a great shot at all of them!

Chance mine? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1697798-low-gpa-high-sat-chance-me-for-harvard-john-hopkins-tufts-ill-chance-back.html#latest

Thanks kittycatyeah! You really think UVA is harder than USC (uni of southern california)? I thought UVA was more of a high match and usc was a reach, But thanks for the feedback :D

USC is your best chance out of UVA, CMU, and USC. I think you will definitely get into Purdue, and also a low match at UMich!

UVA, Carnegie, and Umich are slight reaches, but you never know!

CMU -IS ED for a high-level chess player who’s also full pay is a high match, so your odds are about 1 in 2.

UVA EA (Engineering) = low reach
UIUC EA (Engineering) = match
USC RD (Computer science or engineering) = low reach
Purdue EA (Engineering) = safety
UMich EA (Engineering) = low reach
Penn State (Engineering) = safety
Lehigh (Engineering) = match
