Please chance me for Tier 1 schools!

Okay, so I was wondering if I could possibly get into one of the ivy leagues ( or Stanford, MIT, Northwestern, etc.) with my qualifications. I am currently aiming for my state's best public school because of finances ( University of Washington), but I heard that the upper echelon of colleges can provide great financial aid, so I'm starting to consider them as viable options. I come from a very small, rural school (my class has 65 students) and I have taken all of the AP classes that were offered (a grand total of 2). I am on track to be valedictorian. I am a white female.

4.0 GPA (un-weighted) my school does not weight GPA

In terms of course rigor, I took the most advanced courses available to me, so I suppose it will have to do.

2110 super-scored SAT (I took it twice) (740 reading, 660 math, 710 writing)

34 composite ACT (35 reading, 32 science, 35 english, 33 math) I only scored an 8 on the essay, however; I plan to retake it.

I wonder if I should just send my ACT score, because it is considerably better than the SAT. Will it hurt my chances if I just send one?

SAT II: 800 U.S. History, 780 World History, 680 Math lvl 2 ( I plan to retake math level 2 and take chemistry and literature in October) (math is not one of my strengths)

AP results are not back yet.
AP Tests: U.S. History (I expect a 4 or 5) and Chemistry( 3,4,5)

Extracurriculars:

Knowledge Bowl (western equivalent of Quiz Bowl)
(9,10,11,12) (Team Captain(10,11,12)) (Regional Champions (9,11)) (State Champions (10,11)) (National Academic Championship appearances (10,11)) (Top 20 finish at National Academic Championships (11))

Tae Kwon Do (instructor, 2nd degree black belt)
(9,10,11) (7 years experience)

Moo Yea Do (assistant instructor, 1st degree black belt)
(9.10,11) (10 years experience)

National Honor Society (Vice President)
(11,12)*

Softball
(11) (Right field, catcher) (Rookie of the Year) Our team went to districts for the first time in 27 years.

ASB Treasurer
(12)**

Mock Trial and Debate
(9,10) (club was disbanded after my sophomore year due to a lack of a former lawyer on staff)

Yearbook (Editor)
(11,12)

Newspaper (Editor-in-chief)
(11,12)

A admit that my extracurricular activities look weak, but Knowledge Bowl is my heart and soul, and the majority of my life has been dedicated to my martial arts, leaving me unable to participate in school sports until I took three months off from both, something I was unwilling to do until my friends encouraged me to join softball. Between Knowledge Bowl and martial arts, I just don't have time to do much of anything else during the school year. As for summers, I am going to a journalism camp this year. (All of my other summers were spent on vacation with my families) As for community service, besides the occasional food or blood drive, there just are not that many opportunities to help out in my small town.

I have one hook: I'm a first generation college student. beyond that I am a little lost, I want to work my passion for history into my essay somehow, but I don't know if I can do it while not being boring.

I hope you will take the time to give me your honest opinion. I know it's a bit long, but I tried to give you as much context as possible. thank you.

(membership restricted to upperclassmen)

wow, after reading some of the other posts, it makes me think I should settle for my state school, the ivies are way out of my league. How about UC Berkeley? I will chance back.

Why would you retake a 34…?
No one even looks @ the essay score.
Well you said, basically, what are my chances for Ivies. My question is: which ones? You can’t be applying to all of them… are you? If so you should rethink your intentions.

No one can really tell you your shots. You have a chance, but ivy league schools and the like are really high reaches…

and you don’t need more subject tests. Maybe take one more, not 3…

remember that the people who post here are among the cream of the crop. also think about it: those with fantastic resumes are more likely to share their information, and those who had strong applications but got rejected will be more likely to share and vent. plus, I read somewhere that the acceptance rates for CC are much higher than the national rates.

on track for valedictorian, captain of academic team, first generation, 34 ACT, sports, leadership positions…I willing to bet that you are not going to a bad college

but im no expert and only a sophomore, so what do i know?

Thank you. I was really starting to panic when I saw other chance requests with 11AP classes and long lists of never-ending extra-curriculars. It’s good to know that I have a chance, however slim.

use this site for motivation, but dont waste too much time getting all freaked out by others’ excellent applications.

Your ACT score is definitely stronger than your SAT score. You should get into UW no problem
