Hi, WingsReborn,

It has been stated here that statistics do not matter as much at Tisch, relatively speaking, compared to the other NYU schools like Stern and CAS. Please do not mistake this to mean they do not matter. However, you can have less than stellar scores and grades and still have a good shot if your artistic and creative elements are very strong.

You seem to have good scores/ grades (maybe not for say Stern) and they may be good enough along with your solid ECs.

My thought is that you should really focus on expressing yourself well, in an insightful, substantive and creative manner with the essay. I really like the topic of your essay. If that can be done very well, you should have a decent shot with Tisch. (Also, make sure those recommendation letters are top-notch!)

What I mean to say is that Tisch does not seem to go strictly by scores as much as schools like Stern or CAS. So strong creative elements related to cinema studies can bump up your chance of admission even if you do not have, say, 2100-2200+ SAT Is.

Thank you, that’s good to know. I hope I can really get my grades up though for scholarship/grant purposes, NYU aid is terrible and I need it.

So I guess I’ll just focus on writing an amazing essay.

Hi, Wings,

I believe that scholarships/ grants are very hard to come by, especially for international students. I am more sure that financial aid for inernational students is almost non-existent. If scholarships/ grants are included under F.A., then you might have to re-think the affordability of NYU Tisch for yourself. Especially since Tisch is actually a competitive program within NYU, not based on scores as much as the art portfolios (artistic part I mentioned before).

There was a very long thread that has info about Tisch but that thread also includes other NYU schools and other info related to NYU. Here is the link for when you have time to read it:
