I know my standardized test scores are mediocre compared to the average applicants to these universities (around the 20-40 percentile), but can my GPA make up for it? My LORs will be pretty nice, as I'm confident that the two teachers I got to write my letters (social studies and biology) wrote really nice letters. I also have some nice hooks with a whole LOT of ECs and community service. So now that you know all this about me, what do you think?

I beg you- please look beyond my standardized test scores when chancing me :)

Thank you for your time I greatly appreciate it- WILL CHANCE BACK!

bump!!!

True, your scores are low for those schools, but still respectable. I think given your situation (in my prayers btw) and other components, you have a solid chance! I’d bet you get into at least 40/50% of th

thanks man

Your SAT is a bit low but I think you have some nice ECs and service hours to be able to get in. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1426621-chance-me-computer-science-business-2220-sat.html</a></p>

thanks- bump!!!

bump…

I…think you should aim a tiny bit lower. You’re a fantastic applicant, but you know these top schools are really tough. Also, how would you be able to afford the $60,000 price tags, even with aid? ANYWAYS

Cornell CALS Early Decision- Reach

NYU Stern- Match/High Match

Tufts (one of the teachers writing my LORs is an alumni and I went to their diversity weekend)- High Match

Washington U St. Louis- Low Reach

Rice University- Low reach

USC Marshall- I don’t know much about the school

UChicago Early Action- Reach

Boston College- Reach

Emory- Don’t know enough

Northwestern- Low reach

thanks for your opinion- according to fin aid calculators, for most private schools my total costs would be under 15k a year which is pretty much covered by my Florida prepaid plan

I think you have a pretty good chance at Emory and Northwestern, as well as NYU. I mean, people will see your GPA as opposed to your test scores; not everyone is a great test taker! You have really good ECs, so I think you’re good there! Honestly, I don’t think there’s any reason to stress out. These are all good schools, and I know you’ll get into at least one! :)

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1426641-my-final-chance-thread.html</a></p>

thanks for your chance! Cornell is truly my dream school, so I really want to know if I have a good chance of getting in :/

Oh, oops, I forgot about Cornell. I think due to your extracurriculars, you have a fighting chance. The test scores a bit low, but admissions readers know test scores don’t mean everything. You have really cool internships, too!!! Plus, you applied EA, which boosts your chances at least a little bit. Good luck! May the odds be ever in your favor :D

thanks- can you interpret fighting chance into a percent? sorry if I sound crazy but I’m just so anxious to get my decision :P

What I mean by that is that you are a competitive applicant-you won’t get thrown out of the running easily. It’s impossible to give percentages, in my opinion, for anybody. First off, I’m no statistics major (nor would I wish to be one), and second off, it’s all in the hands of the admissions board. Since I haven’t seen the whole applicant pool, there’s no way for me to determine. I’m basing it on what I’ve seen in my big tome of colleges (Princeton Review’s 376 Best Colleges). Word of advice, look at the Common Data Sets if you haven’t ever been introduced to them-they’re awesome! Here’s the link to Cornell’s:
http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000504.pdf</a> (Scroll down to Section C).

thanks so much for putting up with me lol :)

Haha no problem; I know, it’s a super stressful time :(

bump!!!

Your scores are low for these schools (maybe cept by Emory). Also you lack leadership, you have good clubs but no leadership. That will hurt you too. Also, Graduating early hurts you. Sure you were smart and all, but you had an extra year to take more rigor and challenge yourself and you skipped it, also it makes ADCOMS wonder if you are mentally ready for college

scores a little low, but once you are 2000+, I am not sure it matters as much…good shot at all of these, save for Cornell and NU, maybe WashU are all reaches for everyone…

Chance me please!

I swear do people even know what they’re talking about? I’m captain of a sports team- how does that not count for leadership
