Please chance me for top tier schools?

Hey guys! Could you please chance me? I’ve always wanted to go to a good school, but in my time on CC I’ve gotten a little worried about the caliber of other applicants (especially their unbelievably amazing ECs). So if you could just give me a general idea of where you think I fit? And if you have any other ideas for schools for me that would be awesome too!

If you ask I’ll chance you back too!

Schools I’m looking at:

Carnegie Mellon
Duke
Harvard
Northwestern
Stanford
UCB/UCLA
U of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign)
U of Michigan
UNC
UPenn (Wharton)
USC
WashU

About Me:

Junior
White, girl
Potential majors: engineering/computer science or business

Stats:

SAT I: 800 CR, 800 Writing, 770 Math (2370, in one sitting)
SAT II: will take Chem, Math 2, and US History, probably will get 700 or above
GPA (weighted): 4.6
GPA (unweighted): 3.97
Class Rank: school doesn’t publish, but I’m pretty sure I’ll be first out of about 175 (if only they published!)
APs: Latin Poetry (5), US History, Computer Science, Calculus AB, US History (I’m pretty sure I’ll get 4’s and 5’s on all of those? Hopefully, at least!)
Will take (APs): Physics B, Literature, Government
--also going to take Calc II next year at a local university since I've run out of math at my school

School:

Private, Ohio, Catholic, all-girls
Is well-regarded in my city at least, sends MAYBE one or two girls a year to a top-tier school, but sends all girls to college at least

Extracurriculars:

Latin Club—officer (3 years)
Technology Club—president (2 years)
Technology Team—officer & co-founder (1 year)
Tutoring—at inner-city schools and younger kids on my street (3 years)
Theater—lead in shows/on production crew/costume crew (2 years)
400+ hours with theater group for people with disabilities (since 7th grade—does the time before high school count?)
Zakta Guides beta-tester (we tested a new Facebook application, it was a contest but I did pretty well so they paid me among others to continue working on it)
Helping build a communication device for people with disabilities at Miami University—it’s a federally funded project and we get to work with students and professors
Poems published in TeenVoices magazine and my school’s literary magazine

School representative at Women in Technology conference at GE
10-day mission trip to Nicaragua

Awards:

Gold medal on National Latin Exam
“Spirit” award at a weeklong technology camp at University of Cincinnati
Numerous academic and creative awards at Latin Convention
1st Honors entire time at school
(Assume NMF, I got a high enough PSAT score for my state)
(Also assume the AP award you get when you get good scores on 5 tests)

Work Experience:

Work at a snow-cone stand 25 hours a week in the summer (3 years)
Work for my dad who rehabs houses (I paint, clean, mow lawns, etc.)
Have a full-time internship at P&G this summer, working with engineers in a sort of IT role, acting as a liaison between them and management
Also this summer will work for the same theater group mentioned above, not as a volunteer but for pay this time.

I think that’s everything, thanks so much for helping me out!

bumpbumpbump

Anyone…? Thanks!

Relax. Anything on your list plus some.

LOL WORRIED ABOUT THE CALIBER OF OTHER APPLICANTS?

Relax! What you have is more than par with what high level stuff people have here. You’re nearly gaurenteed at many tier 1 schools, but no one can say anything about ivies anyway. I’d emphasize ur facebook app thing, that’s REALLY impressive i would beleive. Trust me, take a break, your doing fine.

Don’t let the nuns catch ya slackin! lol

You look great for all these school! Amazing test scores, amazing grades, and amazing ECs. The only questionable ones are Harvard and Stanford but no one could be guaranteed admission there. Don’t worry you’re definitely among the high caliber applicants  good luck!

Haha thanks guys, you’ve made me feel a lot better! Does anyone know anything about admissions at Wharton? I really really want to go there but a big concern of mine is that I don’t really have any business ECs or background. Plus I don’t have some crazy legacy or connections there haha.

Carnegie Mellon high match
Duke low reach
Harvard high reach
Northwestern mid reach
Stanford low reach
UCB/UCLA high match for both
U of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) low reach
U of Michigan high match
UNC IN
UPenn (Wharton) high match
USC low match
WashU IN

^wait so do you think it’ll be as hard to get into Illinois as Stanford? And as hard to get into Michigan as Wharton? I thought it was so much more difficult to get into Stanford/Wharton/etc. than public colleges?

Honestly? You’re a freak of nature…but don’t take that in a bad way! You’re a REALLY strong applicant, I don’t see what you have to be scared of. Just keep doing your thing and you’ll be hearing from those colleges in no time (: Oh, and 2370 SAT in one sitting? Dangg.

Good luck! (Though you probably don’t need it)

Does anyone else have an opinion on specific schools?

wow, your Latin proficiency really makes you stand out!! that’s so cool. I say you have great chances everyone. then it’s luck from there, pretty much. but you’re definitely in the ballpark of these schools.
