U/W GPA 94.4 as of Sophomore Year (9 honors courses)
All As minus an 89 in AP English as of 2nd Quarter of JR Year: 4 APs, 1 Honors
SATS: CR: 690 Math: 660 Wr: 700
ACT: 29

ECS: 4 Clubs: Creations for Donations, Peer AIDS Educator, Writer for the newspaper, and Yearbook Committee

Volunteering: 1 year at North Shore Hospital, Headstart Program, Councilman's office
Over 1 Year: Grant Assistant at Make a Wish Foundation

Summer plans: NYU Summer Program which includes a college course with college students.

I would plan to retake my standardized scores if I thought that I had an actual chance to get into Tufts if I could increase them either to a 2150 or 31 on the ACT. However, if there's still a little chance of getting in, then I won't bother. Another option I'm thinking is Boston College?

Thank you for your input. I was actually expecting that BC would be the reach while NYU would not. A girl in my school got in with 4 APs a 94 average and an 1800. I will have 8/9 APs by the time I graduate.

I am NOT a sophomore. I only have a gpa based on sophomore grades, because I only get letter grades until the end of my junior year. I already stated that I have straight As in 4 APs and 1 honors course in my JUNIOR year with one 89 in AP English as of the 2nd quarter. If I was going to apply to NYU I would send my sats: 2050, not the 29 ACT.

Also, the girl that got in with 1800 did not get into Tisch. She is going to CAS. Not everything is based solely on SATs or any single statistic.

i never said or implied that admissions is based on SATs or any single statistic, trust me. i was just wondering if your friend got into tisch, because typically they weight admissions heavily on the audition. because while it isn't based on a single statistic you can't deny that 1800 is below their middle 50% - it is. i'm not saying you CANT get in with that score, it just is more difficult.

BC and NYU are on pretty much the same level (save for NYU Stern) so if you're a reach at one, I would bet you're a reach at another.

however, i don't think NYU is a reach for you - if it is a reach it would be a low reach. i would say more of a high match right now, and most likely a match when you apply.

girl chill.... seriously, don't give me an attitude. sorry that i was confused and thought you were a sophomore - but by now you should have your 5th semester grades.... regardless that's besides the point. what i meant by saying you were only a sophomore is that your test scores will most likely improve, and that even though your scores are in the middle 50%, by the beginning of senior year they should be outside the 75th percentile.

you should be fine... im applying to NYU CAS with a 2.99 and a 1750

just because you applied with those stats doesn't mean anything.

Stephenn I'm sorry if I came across as rude. I already posted all i know about my 2nd quarter junior grades. MY school only supplies letter, so there is no way to know the numerical average until the end of the year. I appreciate your honesty though. If you think it would be worht it to go back and possibly earn 100 points then I would love to know

I got into Tufts this year (EDII) with:
3.67 gpa, 2050 SATI (superscored), 31 ACT, ~10% of 250 and like 2 EC activities.
You're definitely in their range, just try to bring up scores and write KILLER (KILLER) essays.

for NYU i guess it really depends on which school you're applying for
tisch thinks auditions are important, stern if like super hard to get in, and CAS is a bit easier

yes, i think you should retake either the SATs or the ACT. you don't have to do both. for the SAT you should aim to break the 1400 mark, the ACT try and get a 31.

kexin is right however.

if you are applying for Stern it will be more difficult, CAS admissions is a touch less difficult.

I agree and really appreciate your input. I am going back to the ACT I think. I will apply to CAS. I want to declare Political Science as my major. Thanks again for ally our inputs
