I applied as undeclared to UCM, UCR, UCSC, UCD, UCI, UCSB, SDSU, CAL POLY SLO, LONG BEACH STATE, and Fresno State. Thank you!
Cal Poly SLO does not offer Undeclared so what major did you select? Your intended major has an impact on your chances so you could be anywhere from a High Match to Reach.
Also realize that at the impacted CSU’s: CSULB and SDSU, Undeclared will be just as competitive as the rest of the majors.
Based on Stats alone:
CSU Fresno: Safety
CSULB/SDSU/UCM/UCR: Match
UCSC: Match-High Match
UCD/UCI/UCSB: High Match-Low Reach
I chose Bio as my major for all the CSU’s. Sorry, forgot to mention that.
SLO would be a Low Reach to Reach due to a 13% acceptance rate for Biology along with being overenrolled this year so much more competitive for next Fall. You will have some good choices come Spring so as long as you are happy with your Safety and Match schools, you should be fine. Other than your below average SAT, you are competitive for many schools on your list.
Thanks Gumbymom!!! I’m so excited!!! I got into UC Davis!!!
Congratulations! UCD is a great option.
Congratulations on getting into UC Davis, it’s a good school by anyone’s standards. Your objective stats (GPA and AP scores) might be just slightly light for the top schools that you have listed. Your SAT is again low for some of the schools that you applied to. That biomedical internship at UCSF is very good, and will definitely help out. Your extra-circulars are lacking in leadership, but that shouldn’t be detrimental considering your aforementioned biomedical internship. Even though you got into Davis, I would still consider Irvine, SLO, and Santa Barbara as reaches. You have a good chance at getting into Riverside, Merced, SDSU, Long Beach State, and Fresno State. Good luck!
OMG!! I GOT INTO UCSB!! STILL WAITING FOR UCI!!
Congratulations and best of luck.
I got into every university I applied to except Cal Poly SLO and SDSU is still pending. It is going to be a hard choice to decide where I’ll spend the next 4 years.
You asked how you got into the UC’s vs Cal states. UC’s consider EC’s and essays along with academics while CSU’s are just numbers based. Do not under estimate the contribution of your essays and EC’s can have on your application. Congratulations!!!
