I was also just recently nominated into the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists. I want to major in Pre-Med! I will also be taking AP Bio, Human Geo, and Psy this year! I took mostly Honors courses throughout High School!

UCLA-reach
Wake Forest-match
Duke-reach

UCLA: Reach
Wake Forest: Reach
Duke: Reach

Firstly, these schools are all amazing and would be a reach for almost anyone. Secondly, your extracurriculars and leadership are definitely not lacking and look great. However, your GPA and ACT scores are on the low end for all these schools.

Are you planning on retaking the ACT? If you’re planning on going pre-med, great scores in SATII Bio, Chem, Math, etc will be looked upon greatly. In addition, if you have an upward trend in your grades, that would be good. The UCs in particular seem to carry more weight in your stats like GPA and scores.

Duke: reach
UCLA: high match
Wake Forest: match
A lot of those little one time EC things you listed shouldn’t be included in your applications. Only include things/projects that show dedication over an extended period of time, because that’s what these colleges are looking for, not one day or one week little projects.

Your EC’s seem exaggerated. They may very well not be, but to me and I’m sure many adcoms, there’s just no way to be involved in that many things with the number of hours in a day. Focus on a few, don’t include all on your applications, etc. Wake Forest is a match, the other two a reach. Good luck!

Bump! Bump! Bump!

I agree with @novafan1225 .
I’m in three clubs and can hardly manage.
All of your volunteer work should probably be listed only as a number of hours, with maybe a couple big ones that really matter. For example, “donated money” seems a bit odd.

UCLA is a low reach, Duke a reach, and Wake Forest a match.

Thankyou SaraCo. In your perspective, which volunteer work that I’ve done, really matters or is a big one?

Tutoring, building homes, and African donations are all excellent community service awards.

Thank you! Well, almost all the clubs that I’ve listed, occur at different times of the year. For example, some occur during fall, while some occur during the winter and spring. That’s how I manage them all. Do you think I have a good amount of awards and athletics? And what do you think about my work experience?
