SAT 1720 - I know really low
I'm a minority - black and ive live in California but for freshman to junior year I lived in east Africa, i attended an international British school but it didnt offer any AP's so i don't have many i started this year with AP Calc AB and AP bio
I've been involved in EC and volunteer work here is some information:</p>
<p>ACADEMIC
-Attended grades 9-11 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia I am currently attending High School in California as a senior.</p>
<ul>
<li>Two years in Greek Community School Honor Roll.</li>
</ul>
<p>Head Boy (president) - of Greek Community School; it is the highest form of leadership and candidates are elected by the School Staff. </p>
<p>Best Delegate Award - for the Model United Nations; this award is given for excellent command of the skills of public speaking, diplomacy, and problem solving.</p>
<p>EXTRACIRRICULAS</p>
<p>Varsity Basketball- Varsity team member for GCS; our team stood first in the international school sports association of Addis Ababa.</p>
<p>L.E.A.F.O (2 years)-This was and environmental club which planted trees, fund raised, and educated younger generations to protect the environment, moreover it raised awareness and the money raised was given to national parks and reserves.</p>
<p>MODEL UNITED NATIONS (1year)- The MUN gives students a working knowledge of the United Nations by simulating conferences concerning issues in the modern world and assigning students specific countries within a committee and allowing them to come to a suitable solution.</p>
<p>Anti HIV/AIDS Club (1 Year)- This club was established to promote awareness of HIV along with other STD’s to those who do not have the access to information, we educated people on prevention methods along with treatments to those who were already affected.</p>
<p>Key Club (currently 12th)- Teaches leadership through service to others, it builds the community and schools.</p>
<p>VOLUNTEER EXPIRIENCE</p>
<p>Ethiopian Cancer Society (2yrs)- This is an Ethiopian non government and non profit society established to provide awareness and support cancer patients who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.</p>
<p>SOS Children’s Village (1yr)- This organization provides a home for orphaned children, as a volunteer, I got to tutor children in elementary and junior high school in any particular subject. Additionally I helped the students build the rudimentary conversational skills in English.</p>
<p>Vision on Africa (1yr)- This organization helps improve the lives of mothers and children by teaching basic marketing skills allowing them to sell goods and provide for their families. As a volunteer, I taught mothers and children how to market themselves to people so they could sell the handmade goods and provide for themselves, we showed them how proper money management could lead to prosperity.</p>
