Michigan: Intended Major is CS at the college of LSA plus Preferred Admission to Ross Business School
Illinois: Primary Major is CS + Econ at LSA school, secondary major is Industrial Engineering at COE
Have a sibling at Michigan, finishing his undergrad this year and will be starting his masters in CS next year.
What math did you take this year? What science did you take this year? Any coding experience or classes?
Your stats are great but unweighted is low for Michigan. But you are at least one year ahead of yourself in Math and science so I think they might take that into account plus your college math class. You are showing a lot of rigor and the 35 does mean something.
If you get all A’s in your senior year or close and they are rigorous classes I think you have a great shot. CS at both schools is very competitive. Going LSA will make it very slightly easier. Michigan makes more sense since your instate. Illinois is expensive for OOS students and they thrive on that.
Don’t overlook Michigan State as a back up. You will most likely make the honors program and in the past that meant money in your pocket and research and study abroad money.
Thanks for the response! BTW, I already applied to MSU and was accepted around 2-3 weeks ago For science, I am taking Honors Physics, and am planning on taking the Physics 1 exam, however I am not taking any math classes atm, I am unsure about next semester however
I realized that you might of maxed out on math but if your school has linear algebra or something else you could be taking, this will be a negative to both schools. Taking AP physics might of been the better choice also.
Congrats on MSU.
Good luck.
My school doesn’t offer Linear Algebra of AP Physics unfortunately. We max out at BC Calc, which I took sophomore year, and then I took Calc 3 at MSU
