Have been told my 3 essays are very strong (subjective)
My public school is very very competitive, and my grades in AP classes hovered at 95 (A+) and above and I am only ranked 56 out of 527. Will UT Austin know that my situation in that regard? My school has a reputation in the Houston-Area as being very academically prestigious.

I don’t know man. I applied with a 33 on my ACT and a 2090 on my SAT and I was 8.8% and I didn’t get in. Good luck though.

My friend is doing chemical engineering at UT Austin right now; she was about top 15% of a competitive school, with similar test scores but not many ECs. I think if she got in, you should also be able to, but it can be a crapshoot. And I think they do know which of the Texan high schools are competitive, because my school is competitive and they routinely accept lower ranked students from here.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah UT Admissions are really hit or miss, my friend who had stellar stats was rejected but accepted to Berkley and UVA. Honestly, I think no one really knows with the way they do admissions in Austin.
