Essay: I will make sure it stands out.

I will bust my a** senior year for a great GPA. I didnt do so great freshman and sophomore year = great upward curve..

If anythings missing, ask please.
I want to major in Accounting/possibly double major with Finance.

I think Fordham is a target for you. The average SAT is about 1850 and the average GPA is 3.7, so you are a little below, but not enough to make it a reach. Take the SAT again (work on CR b/c that’s the score that stands out as below Fordham level). Get a good GPA 1st semester senior year and good luck!

Well I’m an incoming freshmen for Fordham University. I would reccomend taking the SATs again once more, and shoot for a 1900 but you definitely have a chance. I had a 2040 SAT score and a 3.65 gpa. I also did FBLA and won in Web Design at FBLA States and also won in Desktop Application Programming at FBLA States, and interned at a law firm and a US Congressmen’s Office and did Varsity Tennis. You definitely have a shot at Fordham, and it also helps that you are Turkish since they are going to try to have a well rounded student body so I’m sure you are going to get in! Good Luck!

Trust me I’ve been on that website too many times haha. The reason why I’m chancing here is to hear from actual people. I already have a general idea where I stand. It’s the opinions of others I’m searching for.

Actually, Fordham’s SAT average is closer to 1900 now. I would definitely work on getting the reading score up to a 600. Fordham and most other universities primarily look at M+CR reading score and then separately look at the Writing score to see if it’s on par. If I’m not mistaken, the M+CR average is about a 1270 now. Also, the B-school is getting more and more competitive to get in, but you definitely stand a chance. Good luck!

For what it’s worth, my cousin got into the LC campus with similar stats. LC is easier to get into than RH. My bro was rejected with those stats to RH when he applied a few years back, but was able to later transfer into LC.

This is not true, it’s actually slightly more competitive based on recent past admissions cycles. But anyone applying should apply to the campus that they wish to attend, not to a campus that they think is an easier admission. It IS possible to transfer campuses once admitted but it is harder to transfer to LC which has limited space and housing.

Best of luck to the OP and anyone applying for Class of 2016! :)

Well as a sucessful exFordham applicant I’ll give you all the advice I can think of.

Is your GPA weighted or unweighted. If unweighted you have nothing to worry about GPA wise. According to an admissions rep I talked to last year the average GPA was a 3.7 weighted.

Take the SAT again. Try to get a 2000+, but a 1920 will put you right on the Fordham average. 100 points is a totally managable increase. Try to get at least a 600 in everything… 500s look bad.

As for the essay play into the Jesuit identity. Make sure the essay seems unique and special to Fordham. Is Fordham your first choice?

It depends on your high school. How competitive is your school? Because if you are applying from a competitive high school, then Fordham will take you with below average statistics.

One curious question, Is that an internship at Citigroup?

Lily. My GPA looks like a 3.7 weighted. Fordham by far is my first choice. The thing with taking the SAT again is it would be my fourth time. I remember when I took my PSAT and went over it with my counselor, he said students who generally grow up in a foreign family with different languages and up scoring a little less than others. The very first SAT I took, I scored a 1650. Second time 1780. The third time was during finals/end of year so I didn’t do so well. Super score now a 1820. I wanted to study and take it again but my counselor said not to. He didn’t give me much of an option… But I think my recs will help. One of the teachers in my school is very involved with Fordham(he’s an alumni) and he’s writing a letter for me just for Fordham. I think that’ll help, but how much?

Dave. From what I’ve heard, from many sources, is that my school is up there- that it’s competitive.
And yes, the internship is with Citigroup. I hope that stands out lol
