Please chance me! (from Maryland)

Hey all,

If you don't mind giving me your educated opinions on whether I'll get accepted or not, that'd be much appreciated. I'm from Maryland, I will be able to pay in full (no financial aid required), and I am currently a junior. Here's my quick resume:

-Numerous club participation
-Best Buddies peer buddy -- Had to complete interview out of a pool of numerous people and was selected to work one-on-one with a mentally handicapped student throughout the year in and out of school
-1 of 2 boys selected to act in school play as a freshman, was on stage crew for numerous play productions
-Private pilots license

Also, I have good letters of rec from two teachers and a great college essay (i love writing) on a backpacking trip I did by myself from the Andes to the Amazon when I was fifteen for a month.

I would like to double-major in International Development Studies and Anthropology. On my resume, I have an added section for "International Travels", as I have traveled to many foreign countries by myself, interacting with the people, learning about the culture, and doing volunteer work.

Thanks a lot, it's truly appreciated!

Hey! I’m also from Maryland and will be at UCLA next year. Go Bruins! Just so you know, UCLA does not look at your senior year grades, only sophomore and junior years. They calculate your GPA a different way as well. You should look up how to do it (Look up UC GPA). Your GPA as it stands is pretty low, but you have good extracurriculars. UCLA also does not look as letters of rec. If you get your SATs up you have a chance, but your GPA is a bit of a roadblock (keep in mind I don’t know what your UC GPA is). Good luck!

Your stats are all pretty low- gpa and sat. If you write great essays though you may have a shot!

Stats not great. Teacher recommendations are irrelevant, since the UCs don’t want them.
