Hi, everyone. I'm looking to transfer and these are my stats (simplified it to make it easier)

HS GPA: 3.0
SAT : 1670/2400

After my freshmen year at college (Small Liberal Arts College)
GPA: 3.66 (I still have one more semester to get it up to a 3.7 or a 3.75)
EC: Secretary at a club, then member of 3 or 4 others.
Countless hours (talking about 300 or possibly more) hours of community service (about 100 in college, the rest in high school).
Volunteer for an important organization in D.C for 2 years.
Speak 3 languages (English and Spanish fluency, French intermediate level). Very interested in languages. My major is International Affairs.
Have been in 3 countries ( I don't know how this helps)
Letters of Recc from Georgetown Alumni (Professor). Dean's list and all that good stuff

The colleges that I really wanna get into and I'm applying: Georgetown University, U.Va, UCLA, University of Richmond.

PLEASE CHANCE ME! TELL ME WHICH ONES I CAN GET INTO! and also, please tell me WHAT OTHER COLLEGES Can i get into with these stats that are pretty good? Also, what things can i do to improve my chances? Thank you very much!

Can you redo the SAT for Georgetown and etc.? I know that UVA and UCLA don’t require HS GPA or SATs anymore once you’ve matriculated 60 credits.

Can I? I don’t think so. I’ll have to call the schools and ask.
Also, since my gpa is 3.66, will it round up to 3.7 in my transcripts?

Maybe, it depends because each schools is different with its systems. As for the SAT, although you can try calling them up, your best bet would still be to retake it for the safety.

well what do you think? can i get into the schools or no? and also what others schools that were not listed can i get into?

What school do you currently attend?

UVA is a far reach if you’re OOS with atrocious HS stats. Same for UCLA, you may be able to get in there with a good chance only if you’re in-state.

Since your major is International Affair, I strongly suggest UMich, GWU, UW-Madison or a less selective one like American University.

Like I said, Tufts, GTown, and Middlebury are also superior, but getting in is very competitive with your stats.

As far as I know for Georgetown you really need to get those SAT scores up as you’ll be competing with 2000+ scores. plus they only count math and critical reading so make sure you get those up.

If I were you I would definitely increase that GPA to a 3.7+ for Georgetown (if you can, a 3.8 would be ideal) You would have to write GREAT essays that show dedication in a couple of those ec’s and how you are a perfect match for Georgetown. just try to be different and start getting involved in more things and making the subjective part better because they do look at your hs record…especially if you apply as a sophomore so it would be a reach but you have time to build up a good application package so go for it.

What is your major? For UCLA transfer gpa this year was VERY competitive. Average gpa for 2010 psych major was 3.78, political science was 3.75, economics 3.95, communications 3.94, history 3.74… maybe you would have a chance under anthropology ?

Here are the UCLA admission stats:

[Profile of Admitted Transfer Students by Major, Fall 2010 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof10_mjr.htm)

I would try to improve your gpa summer & next semester.

Good luck.

:)

Global Studies major? Average gpa for transfer student was 3.91… The admission rate was 16%…

Also UCLA does not round up gpa. None of the UC’s in California round up. I am not sure of any school that will round your gpa up.

well, where else can i get into?

I said GWU and UMich would be two of your best options.
