HYP- reaches for anyone, although you have a fair chance. maybe ~20% of getting into each?

Stanford- They don’t look at freshmen year, so your chances are probably higher at Stanford than at HYP. 20~30%

MIT- hard, but you have a good chance.

Haha, assuming getting into each university is an independent event, I’d say you have ~75% of getting into at least one of the HYPSM. good luck!

I would not underestimate the difficulty of admissions at Washington University St Louis. The mid point SAT scores of accepted applicants at WUSL are almost identical to M.I.T. This school would only be a safety for a select minority of overachievers, IMO.

If SAT scores are in question, the OP is more than qualified to attend any university.

Of course, I understand what you’re saying, and perhaps I may have been overshooting when I said it was practically a safety. I know that WUSTL is a very selective/prestigious school. it might just be me, because I’ve known quite a few people who’ve gotten accepted with stats lower than the OP’s.

^I believe it just depends upon how grades are weighted at the HS. It is my impression that many high schools weight honors courses similarly to AP courses, and it would not be difficult to enroll in exclusively honors and APs throughout your HS.

^Interesting point. I often speculated that visits and contacts might be especially important for both Northwestern University and Washingington University. They have no shortage of incredibly accomplished applicants (I think many underestimate the difficulty of admissions) and it would seem logical that they may attempt to weed out those HYPSM applicants just attempting to using them as “safety schools” by weighting interest more heavily.

@interficio- i took 13 AP periods (if you count double periods as 2) and yes my school weighs honors and APs as 5 @hahalolk- i got on the WashU mailing list my freshman year and i’ve emailed them about certain questions. is that good?

HYPS are nearly impossible for everyone, but you have as good a chance as any. Wash U is also really selective, but less so than HYPS and MIT. Dont worry about the GPA, they like to see well rounded students, and the rest of your application is amazing, so they wont write you off because of one thing (hopefully!).
