There is nothing to apologize for.
I don’t really “get” the UC stats published, either. They claim one thing, but the students that I have seen admitted, have really high stats, or, have lower stats but are ALSO, talented and recruited athletes. I don’t know how many of those posted scores are averaged to include all of the recruited athletes. They have a LOT of sports teams!
The students that I often thought would get in, didn’t.
This past year was really eye-opening; students who didn’t get into Davis, would get into LA! That was just one weird year!
Try USC and the Claremont colleges; you’ll see what I mean in funding.
@aunt bea…
“the Clairmont McKenna Colleges (i.e. Scripps, Pomona, Harvey Mudd). Your stats will get you into these.”
You need to research The Claremont Colleges, because you are giving OP some misleading advice.
SMattes: you do have an outside shot at gaining admission to 1-2 of the Claremont Colleges, but by no means
will “…your stats get you into (all) these.” First, 4 of the 5 most selective LACs in the country are in Claremont, this year
Pomona and Claremont McKenna with admission rates of 9.76%, are the 2 most selective Liberal Art Colleges in the US,using % admits as a barometer (UCLA, which actually places more weight on test scores,by contrast, has an admission rate of approximately 17%) and Harvey Mudd traditionally rivals CalTech for the highest average SAT score in the nation (I believe 40% of their 2019 class this yer consists of HS Valedictorians.
Not trying to discourage you., SMattes, just want to make sure you have the facts.
Good luck to you!
No I never intended on applying to those schools, I know how competitive they are. I appreciate all the feedback on UCLA and other California schools, but to be quite honest they are not at the top of my list. My deepest interest lies in the other schools I had mentioned, especially Emory.
