Please chance me, I really need advice

Hey everybody,
I am really really thankful to anyone who reads this and chances me. It is quite long but I have tried to include everything that I thought would help you people chance me.

My Major is most certainly going to be in Chemical Engineering.

I am however not so clear as to which Universities I should apply to and where I have decent chances. I have however made the following list of possible universities in no particular order: MIT, Cornell, Stanford, Yale, Rice, Brown, UPenn, CalTech and Dartmouth College.

Please do tell me of any other universities that I can consider.

Gender: Male

Race: South Asia (India)
Citizenship: India
Country of Residence: Thailand

Academics:

My school does not have GPA's, but using the scale below as reference I am at 4.0 probably (look at my IGCSE's and A Levels).

4.0 95-100
3.9 94
3.8 93
3.7 92
3.6 91
3.5 90

My school does not do rankings either but I can safely say I am in he top 3% in my school.

Chemistry - A*
Mathematics - A
Physics - A*
Geography - A*
Information Communication Technology - A*

-A Levels

I am yet to finish them and I am doing Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Chemistry. This is seen as a very demanding set of A Levels (for those people who are going HUH? lol)

My AS-Level results have been very good as well (these are half the a levels)

Chemistry - 290/300 - A
Physics - 289/300 - A
Mathematics - 585/600 - A
Further Mathematics - 273/300 - A
Economics - ~93% - A

Second sitting

Thanks a lot guys and gals. I love you all. :D

Academic grades are definitely there for these schools. However, your SAT is a bit low, especially for an International Asian Male. Have you considered taking your SATs for a third time in December?

Your ECs are good, but nothing spectacular. Any representation or awards at regional or national levels?

Yeah even I was thinking about my SAT I scores being low, but I don't know which is more important, SAT I or SAT II?

As for awards at national level - well I am an Indian citizen living in Thailand therefore I am not really eligible for many if any national awards.
I have however gotten a Bronze award for UK Math Olympiad, and a Best in Thailand award for Chemistry from the Cambridge International Examinations Board. Nothing else is really coming to mind.

So what do you think are my chances at unis like MIT? Is it sufficient to hope for an offer?

bumb - please can more people chance me?

Your SAT I scores are weak for the international pool and SAT I > SAT II. I'd recommend retaking in Dec like the poster above said and aim for 2200+. Most of the colleges you listed superscore so focus only on the reading and writing portions. Writing seems to be your worst section, but it is the easiest to improve!

Alright, I will do the SATI this december. Thanks a lot for your advice. Other than the SAT score how would you rate my chances? Do you have any other suggestions for which universities I could apply to?

bump.........

Acceptance: Cornell, Rice, Penn. Maybe Hanover, NH? Good luck.

thanks charlie's world. anyone else here to chance me?

any one please?

bumppppppppp

You sound like a very good student, but your SATs are too low for the schools you are looking at (especially if you are hoping for financial aid). There are MANY excellent US schools that may not be well known overseas with excellent students, excellent professors but less difficult admission statistics. You will probably need to be above the 75% percentile SAT ranges to have realistic hopes for admission. Many students aim too high and end up with a slew of rejections. Pick a reach or two out of your bunch and then develop a list of more realistic schools you would like to attend, and apply. This may not sound flattering, but I believe it is sound advice.

MIT: Highly unlikely
Cornell: maybe
Stanford: highly unlikely
Yale: unlikely
Rice: very good shot
Brown: maybe
Dartmouth: maybe
Penn: maybe
Caltech: unlikely

I recommend Carnegie Mellon as a good match

A lot of internationals have SAT's over 2300 and national recognition....
