I am an international student studying at a private international IB school.
I am currently a junior. I am planning on applying to NYU Gallatin to study something along the lines of philosophy, human rights, communication etc.
I believe that my final junior report card will give me an IB score of around 32-34 including the extra points for EE and ToK.
My HLs subjects are one 7 and two 6s. However, I have one 4 in maths and one 4 in French ab. UW GPA: 4.00
My CAS is ‘excellent’ according to our system and my ECs and leadership are also pretty solid:
- Student council
- Varsity Swim team captain
- School Sports Event ex-secretary now President (This is not a student formed group. The school relies on us for 90% of the school’s charity, formal and fun casual events)
- Class President
- Varsity Volleyball player
- Ran and initiated several charity marathon
- Built a creative space for my school
- One of the main students who organised the school’s annual summer concert (something like a talent show)
- Visits to a homeless elder citizen shelter twice a month (very far from home)
- Spent 2 semesters visiting an orphanage (could not continue due to sports)
and many more community services…
I am confident that I will write a good if not excellent essays and I heard that good essays are very important for NYU Gallatin. I am going to focus on my passion and appreciation of education and things that show that I am the right frit for Gallatin. I also know that my IB score is not the highest. But I am planning on spending this entire summer studying especially for maths and French so that my report card in my senior’s first semester will show solid improvement. (Something like a 6)
I was also accepted to NYU Precollege but I heard that it doesn’t act as a huge plus to my actual admission and I’d rather spend my summer boosting my grades up. If colleges see that my scores improved after the summer, will they overlook my failed maths and french score from my junior year?
I will be applying ED1 and will go even if I get LSP’d.
please chance me. I appreciate your help!
