Not being in the top 10% could hurt you especially with a sub 4.0 UF GPA.

Your SAT scores are very nice but UF values GPA over Scores…

Community Service Hours + Alumni could save you granted your EC’s look good with a nice essay…

Don’t be surprised if you see someone with a 4.0 UF GPA + sat scores that are 200-300 points below yours get accepted, because that’s just how UF admissions work sometimes apparently… UF is so hard to chance on.

yeah give me a chance too?

first generation college student

jman… that seems like a big difference in your unweighted and weighted gpa and uf gpa. just saying.

I’d say you have a shot if you wrote a pretty good essay, but with 600 community service hours I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in.

Oh and I got invited to both the AA weekend during the summer and the outstanding local AA shadow day at UF in October. I only went to the one in October though. Maybe they look at that, but it wasn’t on my app when I submitted it.

Oh and my essay was awesome according to the teachers I had review it and my guidance counselor who got her first degree in English.

jman… that seems like a big difference in your unweighted and weighted gpa and uf gpa. just saying.

What? That seems about right.

palmbeach i think u have a solid chance, I’ve heard it helps a lot if your’e first generation.

dnerd i would be surprised if u didn’t get in. I’d say u have an %85 chance of getting in.

yeah i hope so. thanks jman.

dnerd, i was only saying that because my weighted is only .1 higher than my uf gpa. i dont know, i didnt think it would that far off.

Really nervous about February 12th because UF is my number one choice…

35 ACT
4.5 UF GPA
4.0 Unweighted GPA
vp of student government, sports editor for newspaper, yearbook editor, president of national honor society, vice president of deca, vice president of senior committee

tebowforheisman, why are you nervous?

I mean, all your scores are well over UF’s average…

I know of someone who was accepted to Vanderbilt with a 33 but denied from UF. I just didn’t know if scores were a reliable source of admissions chances at UF

you should be in. If you don’t get in, I am speechless.

I’m at 4.3 UF GPA, 32 ACT, 2160 (1450) SAT, student council treasurer, managing editor of the newspaper, nat. merit semifinalist…

If YOU don’t get in…I don’t even know…

I’d say you’re definitely in. NMSF is impressive

so is a 35 ACT and 4.5 GPA…

you’re saying I’m in, I’m saying you’re in…I’m hoping we’re both right :)

What about this?

SAT 800CR 750M 730W

5 AP’s this year, 8 total
Karate instructor, marching band section leader, 110 volunteer hours, nat. merit commended scholar, academic team & spring track teams 4 years, NHS.

BUT I applied pretty late.
Does that pretty much kill my chances?

as far as I know UF does not care about the date that you applied.

Late as in past their recommended 11/1 date…does anyone know how much harder it is to get in once it becomes space-available basis?

I’d assume it’s a little more difficult as there were many applicants this year… but you have good stats.

I’m not sure I can help beyond that
sorry! good luck!

quit worrying and just wait till February.
