I just realized that your name has "illinois" in it. I'm concluding with that you're from Illinois. How come University of Chicago or University of Illinois isn't on your list?-- out of curiosity.

I don't like UIUC. There are so many students from my school that go there its ridiculous, like 15% of the class. I want to go somewhere where people won't know me. I thought about the University of Chicago. Actually, my football team played a game there this past season. Great campus and amazing academics, but I've heard things. My best friend's sister went there, and all she heard about for a year were muggings, robberies, and other terrible crimes. To make a long story short...its neighborhood is bad.

Wisconsin Madison-in
Minnesota Twin Cities-in
Brown-medium reach
University of South Carolina (main campus)-in
Duke-medium/high reach
Warwick (UK uni)-never heard of
Butler-never heard of

I see what you mean stuckinillinois. Two of my cousins (who are sisters) have their mind set on University of Chicago, one of them dictating between University of Chicago and Princeton University. I guess it depends on how much you want to avoid going to an in-state college. UPenn is similar in what you described of University of Chicago, but that still doesn't turn people off from applying. Well, at least most.

Some of the best schools in the country have subpar surrounding neighborhoods, but you are right, it doesn't scare that many applicants. Some people like their homestate, but I don't like Illinois at all (indicated by my name). Some good schools in Illinois, but there are plenty of good schools out of state. Plus, UIUC charges its in-state students about what out of state students would pay for other public universities. My sister applied to UIUC and they wanted her to pay around $26,000 a year. Ridiculous for all the taxes we pay here.

Wisconsin Madison- Don't Know
Minnesota Twin Cities-Don't Know
Brown- Reach, unless you get above a 33 on the acts, which is still going to be a crapshoot.
University of South Carolina (main campus)-Don't know
Duke -See brown
Warwick (UK uni)- Don't know
Butler-Don't Know
University of Washington-Don't know

Wisconsin Madison-in/low match
Minnesota Twin Cities-in/low match
Brown-reach/high reach. They had 20% inc in apps this year so it's getting really competitive...you need to bump up your ACT a few points or try to use football to your advantage...
University of South Carolina (main campus)-in/low match
Duke-reach/high reach .. see brown
Warwick (UK uni)-not very familiar sorry
Butler-low match/match
University of Washington-in/low match

I could see you having a chance if football helped, because quite often admissions officers are willing to give a few ACT points for a determined athelete that will help their school. Not exactly sure if you can use it to your advantage though, because recruiting varies from college to college.
